Hi all,
Here is an update as to what I have been doing this past week. Spent a lot of yesterday playing with the Texture files and Shapes for the 444 Desiro. (Yes it is still on) Very Happy
I think I may have found a solution for it as shown in this screenshot;

Andy's Workshop - Page 10 444_ma10

I have asked Justin to have a look at it to see what he thinks. I have created a couple of new texture files and created separate roof sections in order to get it to this stage....
The 2 x Class 20's that Ged has tested and helped me with the lighting appears to be ready to go. Just need to sort out the Window aligning still on the 4TC set for the new and improved Internal view. Ged and myself have been working towards getting the coach numbers ready to be placed on the remaining 3 coaches, then I will put on some jumper cables between the coaches too. Then hopefully after this these will be ready to be packaged up and a readme enclosed in readiness to be uploaded to UKTS.
Cheers
Andy

It all sounds very good, especially the fact that several members of the community are helping. I look forward to seeing the final version.

Hi everyone,
Well getting close to being finished, but with testing Ged and myself have found an issue in MSTS in that when checking the main coach of the 4TC set in looking at the first picture.
In the second picture is how it looks in Openrails.... Does anyone know if this is because of the Poly count?? If it helps, the Internal divider wall is set as AlphHlfBrt in TSM. I have tried other material settings.. But this is the best one as the external wall in affected.
The External view is set to AlphNorm. The Internal View is set to AlphHlfBrt. And the Cabview is set to AlphNorm. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction?
Here are the screenshots;

Thanks in advance guys.

Post  35005CP Sun 16 Nov 2014, 9:21 pm

Hi all.
With thanks to Darwin's help over on UKTS I have tested this and the issue seems to have been resolved by making the following changes in TSM;

First thought is to think in terms of alpha layers and alpha sorting
Set outside carriage walls and windows to AlphaNorm+
Set the inside division for the vestibule to AlphaHalfBright
Set the inside carriage walls to AlphaHalfBright-
(All other interior parts with no glazing = seats, ceiling, floor can be SolidHalfBright.)

You can only look through a maximum of three transparency layers in MSTS, the nearest to the viewer should be alpha+, the middle one alpha and the furthest alpha-.

If that does not put things right you might need to use PolyMaster on the finished model to split it into sub-objects, but hopefully if you get the alpha sorting done then it will be okay in MSTS.

Interesting to see that OpenRails does not have the same problem. (More intelligent graphics?)

Cheers

Hi all,
With the Met Pack almost complete and ready to upload, I have been focussing elsewhere on some modelling work that I haven't done as yet to add to my Portfolio!! The Midhants Route I would like to do via VMware Player (If I can find a solution with the graphics Card)
If not, I will try and find an alternative solution without having to copy data across all the time....
Whilst, I still have the 444 Desiro still in the workshop, there is something I don't believe that has been done yet (Which I am thinking next) is this; A steam engine in the form of a BR Caprotti Black 5; as shown on this site; http://www.britishcaprottiblack5.org.uk/
Please correct me if this hasn't been done and I will find something else, but I would like to try something different with all the working motion parts and how they fit together..... Should be a challenge....
Cheers

Hi Andy,

Had a quick look through the UKTS library and all the Black 5's seem to be bog standard ones,or maybe a Southern, big tank loco I think it's either G15 or 16,or another Southern loco H16 they were South Western Division Loco's.

Hi Everyone,
I have just uploaded the MET Pack to UKTS and is awaiting approval. If all goes well and is approved the UKTS ID is 33608.
In the meantime Track laying has progressed at Alresford for my Midhants Railway proposed Route. My thanks to Clive (Casperdog) for his help and advice and patience in helping me to get as far as I have. I have to say it's great to learn something else!! Very Happy
Once I have mastered the Inclines and Declines and all the track is laid to Alton, it's then on to the Lineside modelling side of things, such as Buildings, Sheds (Ropley), Platforms, Bridges (Including the ex-Kings Cross Footbridge now installed at Ropley), Signs (Station names as well), Signals (Dummy Signals as well), Cattle Dock, Station buildings, Signal Boxes.... The list goes on!!! Shocked

I can Remember in the beginning, when the track ONLY went from Alresford to Ropley and the down siding was actually longer than the mainrunning line!

I have test driven your class 20s and TC stock Andy, Excellent, well done!
The only thing I had to do was borrow sound and cabviews from the Class 20s in the Greater Eastern pack. For some reason yours were missing brake and power handles
plus the gauge needles also my computer did not appear to like your LT sms files.
Sarah Siddons and the pair of 20's go like a rocket, If you are not already sat down in the 4TC, You soon will be:) Smile Wicked.
Yes thanks very much, most certainly worth waiting for.

Hi everyone,

Anyone for 3 more Hastings Demu units??...... I have had a request for 3 without the light fittings on the front, so have done that. All 3 with pure green fronts! Numbered 1011, 1012 & 1013.
All TSOL's & TFK's have been made and numbered and I will create some consists to give these a run tomorrow.

Andy's Workshop - Page 10 10111010

Also had a request for another coach to be made....... In the meantime track has been nearly laid on the Midhants Route up to Medstead & Four Marks....

Ah, Are these for Danny Gilbert's South east route per chance Andy? You can do as many as you like as far as I am concerned.Smile
A few Hampshire units would not go amiss as well, especially `1121 and 1122 which were transferred over after the New Romney branch closed.
and were used on the Mid Hants until closure.

Hi Andy,
No unfortunately these ones aren't for Danny's South East Route. They were a request made by another person. I have quite a list of things (Requests as well) that people have made..... So you never know I might do 1121 and 1122.... Which livery would you like? Wink (Would look good on my Midhants Route that I am working on!)
Hopefully some acts will pop up over on UKTS running some of these DEMU's with the more that I do! Wink

I guess it depends on what liveries you choose for the rolling stock! Green with a "V" on the DMBS comes to mind.
I guess it might be more appropriate to model 1125 which on a fairly regular basis had it's centre trailer car removed and stored serviceable  at Eastleigh
and became the third unit, Of course 1125 is the unit now preserved on the MHR.
Cheers

Hi Andy,

Have you done or planning to do 1128 and 1132,they are used on the Dartmoor Railway, which runs from Meldron via Oakhampton to Sampford Courtney at present, but in the future they hope to go to Yeoford.Total length of the preserved Railway 15 and half miles,

There new time table starts from Apr 4 to 31 Oct Saturday and Sundays and Bank Holidays.

FGW will be operating summer Sunday Services from Exeter St James to Oakhampton like last year

Hi all,

There haven't been any updates for a while, so I have managed to find some time today to go back to these 'Workshop DEMU's'. As my experience grows I have tided the lines up on the TSOL model which will be used on units 1011, 1012 & 1013 and they look pretty good. I will check them in both MSTS and OR. But so far only 2 of the TSOL's have been done for unit 1011. All the texture number files have also been done. The TFK's look okay to me, so they just need the coach numbers added and then I will have a look at the MBS top front lighting issue to see that can be resolved!?
I thought I would take a break from the route; as I fear I am boring people of it. So I will get these DEMU units done and then go back to it.
Does anyone have any information on which units had the buffet car installed in the consist please?

Cheers

Andy

The buffet units were removed from sets 1031 and 1032 circa 1964 and stored. The rest were removed circa 1980 as they didn't meet the then current health requirements. A number of sets then ran as 5L and in some cases as 4L.

The MBS top front lighting issue is caused by the part not being exactly  90 degrees to the Z axis.
This causes it to be lit like the side instead of the end.

You could try Part/Snap to Grid with a value of 0.005 to bring it in line.

First of all. Many Thanks for the replies guys regarding which units has the Buffet car in the consist. I will endeavour to do one of them with it installed.

Ian, Many thanks for the help and guidance. I tried as you have suggested, but unfortunately no change..... If I send you the files via dropbox, please could you have a look over it for me?

Hi Everyone,

I have gone back to these Hastings DEMU Works Files today and.................. 'SUCCESS'!! I have managed to resolve the issue with the differnt Greens showing at the front of the cab. I have been reducing the Poly Counts as well for some of the facias and although there is still a little work to do in this sector and lining up some of the sections; I believe I am getting close to getting these to a point where I can carry on to getting these finished.

Here is a screenshot of the front and some changes to the front and some re-aligning and Re-modelling in some areas;

Andy's Workshop - Page 10 Hastin10

I always believe when we beat our problems, it spurs us to go on! And so far this is working out fantastically! It has been some time coming and asking others for their help in this area.... But, I have managed to resolve it myself! Very Happy

Cheers
