Re: Is UKTS Down
Trainsim.com also has a full copy of the ORTS/MSTS downloads and many of the TS2012 and Railworks files from UKTS, all of which will be archived.
Fortunately, we have financial support and the disk space to do this. I'm waiting to see what will happen with UKTS (I'm not convinced it will disappear entirely) before we make those files available.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Hi Eric,
Many thanks
It's good to know that there may be another source for the files should UKTS disappear from the scene.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Is UKTS Down
I did try to download the forum, however the security certificate is out of date on it, preventing the program that I used on the main site from downloading it. I haven't found a program that will allow the download.
I did back up a few things that were important to me by printing the pages to a pdf file and the combining those files to reform the topic as one full document.

Re: Is UKTS Down
I've sent multiple emails and forum messages offering to provide a Lifeboat for the forums. They've been ignored.
That offer still stands, should anyone be able to get Matt's attention.

Hi All,
UKTS has been down all evening - I thought we'd got another month, at least!!
Also, the Open Rails site is not available, giving "to many connections" as the reason.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Is UKTS Down
Yup, both sites down.
Yesterday GitHub was also down, and that's where the OpenRails team was planning to move their website once UKTS shuts down....
As a heads up, trainsim.com will be down on Monday for a planned upgrade. No hand wringing or alarm necessary. We have a backup server to bring up if the upgrade goes badly.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Isn't UKTS website due to close on August 31st?
They did put the banner that the site would close next month.

Good Morning, All,
I know the end is fast approaching, but UKTS has been unobtainable since last evening.
I wonder if they are taking their outstanding leave days ??!!
Cheers,
Ged
EDIT : Still no sign of its return (22:00) but at least the Open Rails site has been separated and is available

Re: Is UKTS Down
Just renewed my monthly premium membership and downloaded the one new file available, as everybody knows the
main UKTS site is not up and running and I hope it will be back before too long.

UKTS NOT down?
Hi All,
Has anybody else noticed that UKTS is still up and functioning fully (though I haven't tried to buy a premium mebmership)?
I have also noticed that the forum is still kicking along with a few new posts dated 1st of September 2023?
An weird stay of execution or just the servers not being switched off?
Though the website upo the top says that it will close in August, it doesn't exactly list which year.....
Not being mean or anything, I for one am glad to see that it hasn't just vanished overnight, though that will undoubtedly happen and take me by surprise when it does.....

Re: Is UKTS Down
Hi Justin,
Wonder if they're waiting until all the subscriptions have run out??!!
Mine expires 11 Sept, but I've just checked and it looks as if you can still purchase another month, although I didn't go so far as to complete the transaction!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Is UKTS Down
I for one am trying to take full advantage of the site's tardy departure into oblivion. The last few days I've been downloading a bunch of locomotives and rolling stock I overlooked, as well as the Lyme Regis branch.
But I'm being considerate of other non-premium users of course who want to download stuff too, trying not to bog down the servers with any large downloads until most people in the UK are asleep. Honestly I thought the Lyme files would have been bigger but they were all less than 10MB.

Hi Welwyn22,
If you're only downloading the route, you may miss a useful document - UKTS_13030_Lyme_Regis_Branch_Notes_for_Activity_Writers
Apparently, Matt has posted this on the DTG Forum :
Quite what that last sentence means, I'm not sure! Does it mean that UKTS might be back, maybe, in a different form??
Cheers,
Ged

Apparently, Matt has posted this on the DTG Forum :
I've left it all running - it'll go down when the turn it off, no need for me to do that tbh. I've paid the final bills and sent a mail saying i've concluded with it.
Everything from here on is just time before they hit the off button (which I suspect will be Monday).
Enjoy it while it's there.
Just to confirm - it's all backed up safely on a local hard drive, as I said I would.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Hi Ged
Would UKTS coming back in a different form mean that MSTS/OR assets couldn't be downloaded from a new version of UKTS on the assumption that copyright is related to access from the original UKTS?
I hope the above sentence makes some sort of sense, as I couldn't think of a better way of expressing it!
Regards, Alec
