Hi Ged, just logged into MSTS today and the Forums are back to normal viewing, last night the weather affected my Sky signal for a little while
and the box couldn't get a clear signal but it eventually returned to normal quite quickly.
Thanks for asking about my good lady but I've never married and probably never will due the way I was brought up as a child, I've been living
alone since 1990 when my father died and so could get on with things he prevented me from doing improvements to the flat I bought from the
landlady in 1983.

My Elvas Tower remains the same. The strange thing is that I continue to get emails stating that a thread I subscribe to has a new post, so it is obviously possible foe some people to post on it. Does anyone know a way of contacting the Elvas Tower "management".

Re: Is UKTS Down
The site did come back up yesterday. It now appears to be down again and it has been raised again.
With regards to emails - some of the major email providers keep blacklisting UKTS claiming we are spamming, Considerable effort has been expended into trying to get them to stop doing this but it seems that the volume of form notifications etc. keeps triggering it. Gmail is currently working OK as is Virginmedia's email. Outllook.com and other providers are hit and miss even if you have whitelisted UKTS.
All the emails that hit the support desk and are coherent get replied to but we know that some of the replies are not getting through once sent.

Re: Is UKTS Down
I can now announce that UKTrainSim have been down at some points throughout the day, with the forums not working.
Something is wrong at UKTS, so therefore we advise you DO NOT visit UKTrainSim at the present time. This may last
for a few days, so at the moment, please postpone all activities at UKTS until we know what's happening.
Matt or Peter is expected to make an apology.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Where did that total claptrap come from?
There was a suspect hardware issue over the weekend that was reported to the hosting company. Some parts of the site are working now and others not. Matt has a demanding day job so can't drop everything to look into the problems. I am sure he will have further contact with the hosting company this evening.
Advising people not to visit the site is hardly a mature response to the situation.
Files were approved this morning so the site must have been up at that point when Pete does the file approvals.

There was a forum issue earlier today that is now resolved. The reasons for the issue are understood.
As a result of negative feedback when I have gone out of my way to provide updates, this is the last update I will be providing on this forum. In future please email the UKTS Support email which will raise a ticket.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Hi everyone.
I am unable to log on to UKTS at all, and I am getting a somewhat worrying message as follows.
"YOUR CONNECTION IS NOT FULLY SECURE"
This site uses an outdated security configuration which may expose information for example passwords, messages or credit cards when it is sent to this site.
NET::ERR_SSL_OBSOLETE_VERSION.
ADVANCE BACK TO SAFETY.
Pressing advance
HIDE ADVANCE BACK TO SAFETY
The connection used to load this site used TLS1.0 or TLS 1.1.
Which are deprecated and will be disabled in the future. Once disabled users will be prevented from loading this site.
The server should enable TLS 1.2. or later.
Proceed to www.uktrainsim.com (Unsafe)
First of all is anyone else experiencing any of this or is it unique to my computer? I have never ever received this message and am a long standing member of UKTS
I do not have any email addresses for UKTS so am unable .to contact them,
Any help very much appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Is UKTS Down
Bearing in mind what was said earlier in this thread, the statement on UKTS with reference to this problem is as follows:-
"More and more browsers are de-supporting the older SSL/TLS protocols that this site currently uses and therefore declaring them as insecure.
I was aware this was coming but I haven't had time to rectify it yet.
First up, don't panic, your personal information is no less secure than it was yesterday. We don't store your bank information (in fact it never even comes anywhere near this machine). When you make payments via WorldPay you are doing so via their servers which are all on the latest security so you have peace of mind there.
Second - I'm strapped for time to rectify this at the moment, once my workload at my day-job goes back down to something normal my plan is to get a few days off work to do maintenance on the server, which will include upgrading all this old software.
There is a plan. Hang tight, and don't panic"

Thanks John and Alec.
Obviously I have not read the statement from UKTS, as my computer still displays the security message, but I fully understand.
I really only just want to download a couple of Diesels so will hang on a few days and see what happens.
Hope you are keeping well.

Re: Is UKTS Down
Hi Andy,
Although it's a bit of a pain, you can still download from UKTS. The following is based on my use of the Google Chrome browser.
(i) On the "Your connection is not fully secure" screen, left-click the "Advanced" button.
(ii) On the next screen, left-click "Proceed to uktrainsim.com"
At this stage you should be on the main UKTS display, although it doesn't look 'normal'
From now on, you may enter whatever you need to, but each will be followed by message (i), so continue with (ii); this will be followed by a 'Confirm' box - left-click it.
You may use the 'Download Search' button, but note that after you've entered your search text, gone through messages (i), (ii) and 'Confirm', you'll be on the usual list, but it won't look 'normal' - the thumbnails and buttons may be missing. Left-click on the underlined 'download' at left side of screen.
If you are using a different browser, the messages may be a little different, but the procedure is the same. I've just tested this (at 18:25)
Hope it helps you get the files you want
Cheers,
Ged

Well, the Download pages have gone down over here. Unable to get to UKTrainSim at all.
Guess I'll have to wait to finish downloading the Mid-East route. And it was going so well last night, because no one was on.

..... but still no forums (for me).
I have just sent an email to UKTS to tell them that the forum is down, quoting the error message that is posted, But I would imagine that other forum users have also informed them as
there is normally quite a lot of posts from the TS 20XX users.
Cheers
Andy

Re: Is UKTS Down
It's not just UKTS Forums having this problem - RailPage Australia Forums have been 'disrupted' for the same time, although they are 'just' readable, the pages are scrambled and hard to read.
I've been told it is a problem related to the most recent update of Windows 10, where MS removed functionality to process some very old code. It seems that some Forums were still using software that relied on that old code - the Forum owners needing to find a new replacement code that works with Win 10, and check if the existing posts can be ported over without loss. It could be some time before these faulty Forums are repaired.

"Any railway that paints their locomotives such a magnificent shade of red, must be the most superior in the land" (apologies to the late David Jenkinson).
