Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Well said Clive. I think we ought to bear in mind that keeping the UKTS website going is an enormous undertaking which must consume a lot of time. Considering the number and quality of the downloads available, the subscription is remarkably modest.
Looking forward to running Thames Trent v.2. Creating that is a staggering achievement itself.
Someone put his finger on it when he said that MSTS needs a new graphics engine. There must be someone somewhere who could do it, and it would make MSTS by far the best and most versatile simulator.
Many thanks to all those who are making such good models. Wait till you see what Darwin Smith has up his sleeve.

Thanks for uploading
Just started the download, it will take it around 50hrs to download with this slow dongle It will be worth the wait though.

"IF a release is being delayed un-reasonably, where are the posts from the originator(s) informing the community. I haven't seen one."
Where are they going to post Clive? On UKTS? That would guarantee an even longer delay.
Bob.

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Thanks for uploading this Route Clive. I can't wait to try this Route out..... I just hope my Midhants Route lives up to expectation.
I will go and download it from the UKTS server tomorrow.
I will endeavour to reply to your email tomorrow with regards to my previous email.
Really enjoying the amount of content that is being produced and the fact we are all here to help each other out!!! This is what keeps MSTS going guys!!!
Cheers
Andy

We had UKTrainSim website being quiet, now we had this morning's outage.
http://www.uktrainsim.com/index2.php?form_news=readreport&form_report=1816
Thankfully, the outage is solved and I missed out!
At least two acts for Glasgow Carlisle V4 were released in the past week. Also, there was an update posted yesterday for Mid Hants route at the UKTS forums, so some folk are still keeping busy.
However, I remain busy doing Borawian Railways stuff, but all UK train projects are put on hold for the time being. I will also be involved in the Class 303 project soon.
Perhaps MSTS is becoming less popular, with Microsoft Train Simulator game no longer in production and game itself not working on many Windows 8.1, perhaps the end for MSTS might very well be nigh. But we all know MSTS won't last forever.
Cheers

Hi Folks
Maybe this was just a calm before the storm.
Perhaps now the release of the Thames Trent V2 Route will generate more MSTS users to visit UKTS. Long live MSTS...

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Hi
I have just spent £3.00 for 1 month premium membership so that I could down the route with out the hassle of kewing up,last night there were 87 waiting to down load items and this morning there was still over 30,hence paying the £3.00,still think it's money well spent.
I think the main problem re windows 8 is the radeon graphic card.

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Hi
I've just run one of the included activities, Peterborough East to Leicester via Brandon, and I'm really impressed with the Peterborough End, at last the power station is in the right place, and the East Coast main line station is also right for the pre 1969 rebuild era.
Clive has done a first class job of this Midland Region Route,I think possibly re The Withered Arm,it's has not been made by a well known route maker,un like Clive and Niall who both have a good track record, hence Peter needing to check it before release.

Bob,
I have no right to be critical, but is your last comment going to help us go forward?
Best wishes,
Roderic

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Roderic,
I understand your point but I'm just stating reality. At least what I see as reality. In my experience there have been some very unreasonable actions performed by Peter Peddlesden and pussy footing around the issues has not worked.
I think the "spies everywhere" comment is the reality.
By the way, which way is "forward"? Is it putting up with the crap from PP or setting up a download facility in competition with UKTS?
Bob.

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Let's all take a step back shall we, as we don't want this thread to become too heated! We should all try and keep our personal opinions of others to ourselves. I'd like to think that we can rise above this.
This thread, and a similar one over on UKTS, covers a subject that is important as we try to come to terms with the changing status of MSTS. I've expressed my opinion over on UKTS and repeat a precised version again here.
"Whatever happens elsewhere I shall continue to use MSTS and hence for me MSTS is NOT dead!"

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
Hi,
I hope this isn't going to cause controversey, but maybe if we all chipped in to help with cost, and if Justin is willing, could we use this site to down load new items,I know it means getting model makers on board as well.
I'm not sure how we could go about making DVD's,but I know they are popular with a lot of us who have trouble down loading a lot of items,I think if some one who is computer savey, could transfer any new routes and stock activities onto disc, even if the cost has to go up to pay for them.
It would have to be new routes only as UKTS have the rights to the current DVD's so we can't make them available, this way we should be able have a harmonious partnership with UKTS,this would allow them to concentrate more on their TS2015\6 followers, and here MSTS.

Re: MSTS: Is anybody out there?
As I have received no reply to my PM to PP to date on the subject of UKTS DVD's, it is not unreasonable to assume that none will be forthcoming.
Further discussion of UKTS CD/DVD status needs to be addressed to that site, other than to note if and when they are released.
Taking into account the direction in which this thread was heading I do not feel that there is anything more to be gained in keeping it active, and hence I have taken the unilateral decision to lock it.
