New Computer for MSTS.
Just treated myself to a new computer.
AMD A8 5500 APU 3.20 4 core 64bit.
AMD Radeon HD 7560D built in graphics
7 channel built in sound.
1 terabit HD.
4 GB memory
Sata 3 & USB 3
DVD writer and all the usual other bits.
Windows 7 Ultimate.
Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Security.
None of the usual junk installed by request - It's an MSTS computer.
Shop says built in graphics and sound don't use the processor and if they did they would use another core.
Slots available if I want to add separate cards.
Memory more than MSTS can use and plenty left for Windows
Empty slots to add more.
Cost £450.

I created a partition for MSTS and installed to E/MSTS
Tested the default routes and got frame rates in the 50s.
Renamed "Train Simulator" to "Train Simulator default" and copied
the working Train simulator folder from my XP machine.
Copied my zipped up Routes and Trainsets across using a USB link lead.
Installed PSP, Activity Analysis, Polymaster, SFM and Shape viewer to E/MSTS/Utilities.
Installed Route Riter and followed Mike's fix.
Installed TSM and edited the registry as described at Trainsim.com
Only thing that doesn't work is Conbuilder but I didn't expect it to. I have the last freeware version, Suppose I'll have to pay for it now.
Everything works as expected and I had no problems with Win7...what did I do wrong?

Re: New Computer for MSTS.
Wait for it...........
Can you get the Conbuilder installer to run in compatibility mode?
Windows 7 should have the ability to run the program as it was in XP.

A good freeware alternative to Conbuilder is Convoi It comes in French but you can change it to English once installed, and there is an English language manual in pdf format that you can view online or download.

Hi Ian,
To confirm Justin's comment - if you set the compatibility for cbsetup.exe to be Windows XP (Service Pack 3) it will run in Windows 7; I also placed a tick in the 'Run as administrator' box.
Cheers,
Ged
