It's interesting to see development in the real railway world.
1. Work is well underway for the reinstatement of the "waverley" route.
2. Kings Cross station refurbishment is due to be unveiled soon.
3. Serious consideration is being given to reinstatement of a rail ink in Sussex between Uckfield and Lewes.
4. London Bridge station remodelling - part of the Thameslink project - is also well underway, and is expected to take up to 5 years.
5. Crossrail 2 is still being heavily promoted - of course Crossrail itself is also underway.
6. HS2 - the less said the better!

Just to add that we have the Reading re-modelling ongoing at present which is partially linked to Crossrail; but has other advantages as well.

On a smaller scale; a number of stations are being improved on the Waterloo/Reading lines with existing footbridges replaced by "accessible" bridges.

Truth is rarely pure, and never simple.

Alec,

"Accessible bridges" refers to overhead foot bridges with lifts for wheel chair/elderly folks access.
Nearly every station in Sydney is being/has been upgraded to be more "accessible" for everyone.
Portable (foldable) wheel chair ramps; "tactile tiles" (lumps on the ground for the vision impaired) along platform edges, top and bottom of steps, etc; improved lighting; new lifts and improved station entrances are what most of the refits involve.

So whilst they make the stations easier to access, you need to just ignor the fact that they now want to introduce 30 sec "train stationary" times at the non "city stations".
Whilst I may be able to move quick, there are a loto of people who complain that the current 1 min stops aren't long enough.

Real railway developments Empty Welsh Valleys

Well, we have had the reopening of the Ebbw Vale Branch, though only if you're going to Cardiff as the connection to Newport still appears to be in limbo due to signaling problems, and we have just had a new bridge down West (at Lougher I think) which means we now have more capacity through to Carmarthen. Oh and there is talk of a NEW Railway Station at Pwll y Pant (there was a massive Viaduct here many years ago) in Caerphilly.
And we must not forget Electrification of the London / Swansea main line, just have to wait and see what happens though. Evil or Very Mad
