Hi Art,
The straight answer to that one is "Yes"! Very Happy

I believe you can use Route Riter or ConBuilder (or maybe even Convoi) to help you, or you can manually amend the appropriate consist file.
Obviously it's not so simple if the consist is also used in other activities, but if you'd give us more details, we'd be able to offer more definite instructions.

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Art,
it is simple to change a loco, but be careful of the length of the replacement, make sure it is either the same size or smaller than the one you want to replace,if it is the Garrett that you didn't like the cabview I would replace it with a 8F,

There is another problem you might have is the again if it is the Garrett the replacement loco might not be powerful enough to haul the train.
I use convoi(which is free)to change may locomotives,I haven't tried route riter, and at $30.00 for conbuilder well that these days is beyond my pocket.

Best thing is tell us which loco you want to replace, and the loco you want to use as the replacement then we can tell whether it is suitable or not.

The easiest way to change a loco (or anything else) is to remove it from the Trainset folder.
Then run Route Riter or Activity Analysis.

The missing loco will then be highlighted and you will be able to replace it.

Make sure you have the right consist and remember to put the loco back afterwords.

Art,

just downloaded these to help you out if you look in your trains/trainset folder and look for a folder called cricklewood ivatt 4MT.

In there look for 43019 and open that and follow what ged said to do.

Hope that helps

Hi Art,

If you can't see any eng or wag files, are you using Train Store ?
Before you do ANY editing of stock files or folders, you MUST unstore everything!

If you're not using Train Store, the only thing I can think of is that you haven't set Windows to show the file extensions of all files. If this is the case, please let us know which version of Windows you're using, then one of us will be able to 'talk' you through it (it's not difficult!).

Now you are going to have to reinstall the Cricklewood Ivatt 4MT again,to get back to where you were before fiddling around with some thing you don't know about, this always happens when you start fiddling around with things you don't know.

Hi Art,

Good thinking in backing up the original eng file, hopefully you should be OK to run it,with out any problems,I usually use use the head out of the cab side window, when running steam loco's
.
On the narrow gauge SAR|SAS Garretts the driver seat swivelled out so you could drive it from outside the loco, mind you it didn't matter out in the bush with no trees, just scrub and single line track.Might have the odd lion or elephant to worry about though

Hi Art,
There must be something still wrong in that folder.
The best thing you can do now is to delete the whole Cricklewood Ivatt 4MT folder. then re-copy it from the original download.
Don't change anything, but test it to make sure it works!
Make a copy of 43019.eng and save it somewhere away from your TRAINSET folder. Don't just save the line you're going to remove.
Remove the FreightAnimation line, then test the loco again; if it's OK, you're done!
If it doesn't work, try to determine WHY it's gone wrong, then you can copy the backed up file (let it over-write) and start again.

Don't worry about wasting anybody's time! We're all here to help each other get the best out of MSTS Smile

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Art,
You are quite right, there are three crew in this loco! However, only one of them is in the Freight Animation shape; removing this leaves the other two, but they are not in the way of your <SHIFT>+1 view - I've just tested it! I'll put up some screenshots, when I've sorted out how to do it!!

Hi Art,
Then all I can say is that we're not looking at the same loco!!

When you removed the FreightAnim line, are you sure you did it in 43019.eng OR did you change the #43019.eng file ??

Incidentally, as you can see, I don't have the driver and fireman on the front buffers!

Cheers,
Ged

EDIT : I have subsequently found a couple of "funnies" with this download, which I've reported to Martin (Mendes).  They don't directly affect your problem.
1. There are 4 crew members on the footplate of which only two appear to be placed there by the Freight Animation.
2. Loco number 43120 has the wrong textures on its cabsides.

EDIT 2 : Please see my 11:06pm post of 22 July for further information on the above two items.

Hi Art,
In my 7:59pm post of yesterday, I included this :
I have subsequently found a couple of "funnies" with this download, which I've reported to Martin (Mendes). They don't directly affect your problem.
1. There are 4 crew members on the footplate of which only two appear to be placed there by the Freight Animation.
2. Loco number 43120 has the wrong textures on its cabsides.

I have had a reply from Martin, and would like to retract item 1 - the problem was due to an error on my part (I used the wrong tender!) and have offered my apologies to Martin.
Martin acknowledges item 2 and will issue a correction.

I have subsequently found a couple of "funnies" with this download, which I've reported to Martin (Mendes). They don't directly affect your problem.

I have had a reply from Martin, and would like to retract item 1 - the problem was due to an error on my part (I used the wrong tender!) and have offered my apologies to Martin.
Martin acknowledges item 2 and will issue a correction.

Hi Art,
crashes on 1 + Down Arrow
Well, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas!
Could it be that, in removing the Freight Animation from the loco, you inadvertently changed something else?
To remove that possibility, I suggest you delete the Cricklewood Ivatt 4MT folder completely and re-install it from the download; DO NOT change anything, but run the loco in the sim and try the Head-Out Forward view.  If it works OK now (which I expect it to!), you know it's something you did before.  On the other hand, if it still crashes, you've got me beaten!!

Cheers,
Ged
