Port Talbot to Llanwern Iron Ore Delivery 1980. No Brakes!! Empty Port Talbot to Llanwern Iron Ore Delivery 1980. No Brakes!!

Hello everyone.
In a spot of bother here, I am attempting to run the Biscard V5 Port Talbot to LLanwern Iron Ore delivery activity, I have 3X class 37 plus 27 fully loaded
JUA iron ore bogie waggons in tow, the train is airbraked, at least it should be!
I gently start out of the siding climb over a bridge and then decend towards the main line, this is where the problems begin, because there is a Cardiff bound class 120 heading up the main line, so the exit signal is red, As I approach it despite putting the train brake into emergency the train keeps pushing, the signal does not clear and the activity ends with a SPAD (Signal passed at Danger without authority.
Obviously I can not run on the main line without stopping, I know that the problem is caused by having three locos on the front, but I thought that somewhere this had been adressed.
I have bin patch 1.8 installed and am running Windows XP Home.
Any advice very much appreciated.
Cheers
Andy.

Andy,

Have you had a look at the increased F5 function with Bin and checked to see if the brake pressure changes at all. Do this check before moving off when you first load the activity. Some eng files are setup with slow brakes, others have a faster brake setup.

From memory I have had a few 37’s with brake issues, but as I end up modifying most of the engines that I use with different brake setups (and as I haven’t had a 37 out in a while) I can’t remember which ones gave me trouble.

I don’t know if this will help, but at least it will give you an idea of where to look.

As for the multiple engines causing brake issues, I have had 32 engines and 32 coaches lined up and moving without problems (325 class photo shoot).

Justin

Thanks for that Justin.
I have re downloaded this activity and found that there are some modified
class 37 engine files included, (Pretty certain I had allready used them)
Anyway the only difference is, that I can now slow the train down by applying the loco straight air brake, The train brake is still totally useless, charges up to 90PSI but does not apply the brakes at all. Shocked
A slight reduction in brake pressure should slow the train down considerably, it doesn't Neutral So there have been some "Heart stopping" moments and plenty of saves.
Sadly I dont know how to modify the engine files on the class 37s.
Currently I have staggered into Cardiff and am waiting outside for the red signal to clear.
Cheers
Andy

Up date:
Feeling a bit foolish, basically all of my UK trainset is Chain Coupling and as these extra files were automatic with automatic couplings I simply dumped them and used the engine files with the chain, which just happened to be vacuum braked. So I did not need them did I Rolling Eyes
Well Yes actually I DID, Because the Auto File contains Air braking.
So with a slight bit of modification and thanks to SD Trains over at UKTS for prompting me, I am up and running (and stopping)
Cheers
Andy
