London - Southampton V1
Route Name = London-Southampton
Route Authors = Richard Sulzmann and Jonathan Powell
Route Location = London (Waterloo) to Southampton Central
Route Mileage = TBC
Route Era = Modern (South West Trains)
Route Source = from UKTS downloading at UKTrainSim.
Additional files required to be installed = none
Route Description =
An MSTS route available to download as noted above.
Activities and relevant stock are available from the UKTS library.
“Starting at London Waterloo in the heart of the city, the line runs past famous landmarks to reach Clapham Junction, the busiest station in Britain. From there it runs through mostly urban scenery passing places such as Wimbledon, New Malden, Surbiton, Esher, Weybridge and others to reach Woking, an important junction. From there the countryside is more rural, with places of note including Basingstoke, another important junction, Winchester, a historic town, Eastleigh, with its huge railway depot and works, before finishing in the busy port of Southampton.”
This was a route in progress and to the best of my knowledge was never completed, but obviously offers the opportunity of doing work on it as a means of developing route building skills.
