getting a train
An odd question maybe but is it possible (and legal)for me to upload to PC my Paddington to Penzance Cd and then delete the Route leaving only the Stock. My reason for so doing is that I want to use a "Western with Coaches" as my "Explore Route" train, but don't really want to have the rather massive Route taking up a lot of room.I realise that I could just (though I've never managed to make one that worked ) download them from UKTS,but it seems easier for me to do it this way.,

Re: getting a train
Roger,
So long as you are not distributing the route and stock to anyone else there is no issue.
All you are doing is simply installing part of an add-on rather than using the full thing, nothing wrong with that.

Re: getting a train
Hi Roger,
It's not even as difficult as you think it is!!
When you run autorun.exe from the CD, you will get a menu with the following options :
Install Globals
Install Route
Install Stock/Acts
View Readme
Browse CD
Select Install Stock/Acts and instead of putting it in the suggested location, install it to a temporary folder (named whatever you like) and let it run.
When it's finished, open the temporary folder and you'll see two folders : ROUTE and TRAINS.
The TRAINS folder will contain the usual CONSISTS and TRAINSET folders - just copy what you want into your 'normal' MSTS CONSISTS and TRAINSET folders. It may be preferable to copy all the files over, then you won't miss anything like common.sound and common.cab entries, but check before over-writing any existing files!
You won't need the ROUTE folder, so it can be ignored (or deleted!).
Cheers,
Ged
