Hi,
Are you using Windows 7? If so, you may need to right click on the file and left click on 'Run as Administrator'
Let us know how you get on?
Thanks
Andy

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
Hi Art,
I live in Crowborough.
I've just managed to Install Activity Changer? Please may I ask where you installed the Application from?
Here is what I done and has worked okay. I installed the latest update of Java 7 Version 21. Rebooted the Virtual Machine, then installed the App and it loaded up first time without any problems. Is your version installed to c:\Program Files?
Cheers

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
Sorry to hear that Art.
Can you tell me if you are using a Desktop PC and if so how many Hard Drives you have fitted into your machine?
It may be that it only works when installed to c:\Program Files.
If you have a C:\ drive, try that and let me know how you get on?
Thanks & Best Wishes my Friend.

Hi Art,
From memory you have the opportunity when you run the Installation of where to Install it to. Try running the Executable again and install it to c:\Program Files
Let me know how you get on and catch you at some point tomorrow.
No problem with regards to the help! That is what we are all here for!

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
I just checked my Activity Changer and it is installed (and runs) in D:\Program Files so it doesn't have to be installed on c:\.
If you look in the Activity Changer folder (wherever you've installed it) there's a folder called help_for_startproblems. Inside that there's a file called index.htm. If you double-click on that, it will come up with instructions on what to try if Activity Changer won't start.
Bob.

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
Hi Art,
That's a shame, but it's your perogative
Perhaps, sometime in the future, you'll come back to it. According to the thread on UKTS, AC saves a backup of the original activity, so you can always get back to it; maybe the thought of destroying the original act is putting you off it?
May I thank you for bringing Activity Changer to the attention of many of us who'd never used, or even heard of, it.
Cheers,
Ged

Sorry to hear that. Was hoping we could all work to resolving this...
If you do decide to go back to it, please let us know.

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
I've just seen Peter Peddlesden's post over at UKTS. I, of course, cannot reply to it and even if I could, my post probably wouldn't last long.
I have just tried what he says and it's not correct.
I'm running W7 64bit and when I enter, under a command prompt, "SET PATH" there's no sign of anything to do with "java". Also when I enter "SET JAVA_HOME" it tells me it's not defined. So, according to Peter, my java shouldn't work.
However, both Activity Changer and Route_Riter work for me with no messages about java not being installed.
Would those of you that can run Activity Changer and/or Route_Riter try Peter's instructions and see what happens. If you get the same results as I did, perhaps you would be brave enough to post at UKTS.
Bob.

Re: Activity Changer Problem.
Hi Bob,
Just seen your post & have in fact just done that! Although I missed out pointing out the lack of anything in the PATH environment as I'd already done that!
The situation that we now have is that we seem to have machines with Peter's settings set "correctly" but Activity Changer still refuses to work and then machines that do not have the "correct settings", but do work.
This is actually making my head hurt a little more than my training course (implementing a new KMS) at work today

Truth is rarely pure, and never simple.
Re: Activity Changer Problem.
Hi Bob and Geoffrey,
I've just responded to Geoffrey's post on UKTS, but thought I'd better do the same here!
In Peter's post, he supplied a link to where he obtained his information. That link refers to the Java SDK, which, as we're not developers, we don't use. The Java site includes this :
Note : Wherever TM shown above it should be in superscript, but I haven't found the appropriate keystrokes!
For Bob's benefit, there is no reference to Java, or the jre folder, anywhere my list of Environment Variables produced by the Set command, but Route Riter and Activity Changer are working without complaining about anything
Cheers,
Ged

Do you want to run JavaTM programs, or do you want to develop Java programs? If you want to run Java programs, but not develop them, download the Java Runtime Environment, or JRETM.
If you want to develop applications for Java, download the Java Development Kit, or JDKTM. The JDK includes the JRE, so you do not have to download both separately.
