Cannock Chase V5
Route Name = Cannock Chase V5
Route Author = Don Hinton
Route Location = West Midlands
Route Mileage = 570 miles
Route Era = late 1950s to mid 1960s
Route Source = no longer available from UKTS CD ordering, nor is it possible to download the route only, following the closure of UKTS.
Additional files required to be installed (download version only) = XTracks, which can be found in Trainsim.com - search for File ID 85024 xtracks.zip.
Route Description =
An MSTS Route supplied as a CD noted above complete with a number of activities and the relevant stock to run them.
Additional activities and relevant stock are no longer available from the UKTS file librarym following the closure of UKTS.
“Cannock Chase 5 covers an area from Dudley and West Bromwich in the south to Standon Bridge and Barlaston in the north, and also includes the northern part of the South Staffordshire line to Wychnor sidings the last station being Barton & Walton. Altogether it has 12 collieries, 3 Power Stations, 2 main Steelworks and over 500 sidings.
All the connecting branch lines with at least 75 stations belonging to the LNWR, GWR and Midland railway companies with about 570 miles of track ensure plenty of scope for activities.
Built using Xtracks and based on the lines available in the late 50's to mid 60's, some track work had to be omitted due to the way that MSTS works; a few stations have been “re-opened” to improve activities for this route.
Parts of it are semi-fictional as some of the track plans were not available, nor were there many photographs of some parts of the route."
