Spam Dump? Empty Spam Dump?

Post  j3801 Fri 15 Mar 2013, 11:52 am

Hi Everyone,

I have just checked my email account and had 6 "failure notices" for yahoo plus another 3 random emails saying that a message could not be delivered. I know I have been offline most of today doing 3D modeling, I was just wondering if anybody has had s similar problem within the last 2 hours?

A lot of the failed messages are to email address that have not been in use for many years.

Justin

Checked both my email accounts and no abnormalities there.

Justin,

I've just received an email from you that looks like spam. I've sent it back to you (without following the link) in case that helps track down the culprit. It looks like your computer has picked up a virus.

Bob.

I have just double checked and I too received an odd email from you which I deleted without opening.

Similar to Alec, I too got a 'spam' email from you, which I deleted. Judging by the names in the header (there were more names than just my email address), it seems it is one of those viruses that goes through your Address Book and broadcasts itself to all names in the Address Book.

Regards, Brian

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that. Funny thing is I had physically disconected my computer from the internet at around 10am, and when I had to go online to have a look at the RES NAA, I checked my emails and found out about the spam dump.

The odd thing is I never set up an address book in my email accounts to help prevent something like this from happening. Judging by the addresses have been used, it would appear that the email account was hacked. I have upgraded security on that email address to try to prevent this sort of thing from reoccuring.

I do appologise.

Justin
