Greater Eastern Class 101 to Ipswich
Here is a little something I wanted to do for quite some time, but I couldn't find a decent-looking model of a Class 101 DMU - until I noticed that the MEP Miniroute had both green, whiskers, blue and blue/grey versions of the MakingTracks model.
Set in 1988 (just as electrification work to Norwich was completed) the journey is a relatively short one from Haughley Junction to Ipswich, calling at Stowmarket and Needham Market.
For anyone who hasn't driven a Class 101 before, it's a little bit of a learning curve due to the manual gears. Gear 1 to 15mph; Gear 2 to 30mph; Gear 3 to 45mph; and lastly Gear 4 to 60mph.
