NSW Class 82 Diesels
Hi All,
You've probably already seen Justin's video of these locos - https://tsforum.forumotion.net/t1443-random-t4-illawarra-line-footage#18852
I thought I'd have a look around to see if there were any MSTS models of them. I found a pack of 4 on the CTN site (http://www.coalstonewcastle.com.au/stock/diesel-nswgr/020/download/) which includes a cabview. The four are also available individually from trainsim.com but I couldn't find the cabview there.
In real life, they seem to have a distinctive sound, but the models use the default Dash9 sounds - it's a pity a specific set hasn't been created (or would the Class 80 sounds, also from CTN) suffice?
The locos have a cab at each end. but the cabview only provides for the 'front' one. The rv-cvf maker could be used, but it only creates an empty _rv.cvf file. This is because the 3 'Position' lines at the top of the file do not have a space between the last number and the close bracket. The utility was released in 2006, so it might be a little late to ask its author (Kevin Roberts) to fix this little problem!!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: NSW Class 82 Diesels
Hi Ged,
I don't know why I didn't investigate this years ago, but I did find a sound set that comes close:
MSTS MLW EMD 710G3 441 kHz Megapack from trainsim.com
It comes with a horn sound which is a near match for the 82s as well.
You'll want to use the MLW_710G3A sound set. I used the BNeng and BNcab set and adjusted the horn section to use the supplied oldcast_p5 horn.
The 80 class are an Alco/Comeng product which is very different from the EMD/Clyde 82s.
In a rather amusing turn of events, as I was trying to find out what engine was fitted to the 82s (the EMD 12-710G3A type) I found out that the British 66 and 67 classes uses a more modern version of the same engine (the EMD 12N-710G3B-EC).
Regards,
Justin
