Question to MSTS Activity Writers concerning Open Rails Empty Question to MSTS Activity Writers concerning Open Rails

Can I ask our activity writers what their opinion is in the way red signals and SPADs are treated in Open Rails. An activity does not terminate if a user passes a SPAD in Open Rails but the emergency brake is applied eventually bringing the loco to a halt passed the signal. As many activities user red signal to control the flow of traffic, how do you believe that this will effect activity writing and running?

Hi David,

My response is already over on UKTS so there is no point in repeating it here unless any further information is required.

Additionally, I have just learned that Temporary Speed Restrictions and Filed Signals in activities are not yet supposed by OR.

On the plus side there are several new "Events" that can be added to activities to be run in OR.  Details of these are given in Section 10.16 of the Open Rails manual.  Currently these are:

- No halt by activity message box.

- AI train horn blow.

- AI horn blow at level crossings.

- Activity location sound file.

The new information in the activity file is ignored if the activity is run in MSTS.

In addition, the ability to change the weather as an activity event, is under development.
