Sending attachments by email(W7)
I am attempting to send an e mail to Mike Hendle with an attached folder containing a class 20 that he needs.
Does anyone know how to go about doing this as I cannot find any way of getting the file attached to an email.
The windows 7 help section is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.
Windows XP was so easy to use.
Sorry if this is rather off topic but I am getting absolutly nowhere at all.
Thanks
Andy Moody

Hi Andy.
I find that drop box is the easiest way to share files, and it is free unless you want to upgrade (upgrade only necessary for heavy users).
https://www.dropbox.com/install
I gave up on trying to attach stuff to emails ages ago, you just email the link to the recipient, the recipient doesn't have to have a drop box account.

Re: Sending attachments by email(W7)
The problem with email attachments is that for some providers there's a limit on the size of an attachment. I would agree with Mark that Dropbox offers an excellent alternative, as I use it myself to send 50+MB attachments to Australia and New Zealand! The recipient does not need to have Dropbox either.

Hi Mark/Alec.
Thanks very much.I now have Mike Hendles Folder in Dropbox, but cannot find anyway of being able to send it to him.
What do I do next please? Where is the link?
Sorry but I can not make head nor tail of how dropbox works
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy
Locate the dropbox icon at the bottom right of your screen,
right click on it and click on the world symbol at the bottom of the window,
that will take you to your dropbox webpage,
locate the file you want to share and click on the share button,
that will give you the link to share it with others.
If the file doesn't appear on your dropbox page, that means it is still uploading.
Read the PDF file in your dropbox folder for further details,
Once the recipient has got the file, you can then delete it to free up your space.

Hi Mark.
All on hold at the moment, Rather worrying message on the UKTS thread. It appears that sending this file to Mike, I would be in breach of copywright
am awaiting further advice from the UKTS moderators before I continue.
Cheers

Is it still available to download from UKTS? if so just send him the link to the download.
Have you fathomed out how to get the link from Dropbox now?

Hi Mark,
It was removed when the creator moved over to the otherside(TS 2015) he removed quite a few files that are needed for the new Woodhead Activity Packs.

Re: Sending attachments by email(W7)
That's a pity, I have got round that in the past by making a copy of an existing loco of the same type, and renaming it using the same naming convention as called for in the acts, then all acts calling for the missing loco/stock will use the replacement, it's easier than going through and altering all acts that use it, and any acts that require it you download in the future will work too.

Hi Andy,
I have said over on that UKTS thread about me re-skinning one of my Class 20's.... Would you still like me to do this?
Cheers

Hi Andy
No it's not me, I do have it, It's Mike Hendle that needs it, to run activities on the Woodhead route. Think he would be most greatful buy you should ask him
if he still wants it.
Sorry for the confusion.
Cheers

I've also done that for some of the earlier routes, in particular for the original Woodhead that made use of locos by Terry Thornton! It's a relatively simple process as well, which I've also used where a commercially produced loco is not in my fleet!

Hi Andy
Many thanks for the offer to repaint one of your class 20's into a blue version 20190,it will come in very handy for me and other members who need this loco,I see already on UKTS one member has deleted the Woodhead route, due to this missing loco and other ones needed for the activity packs, because they have problems changeing stock.
Mike
PS Ged thanks for your help as well
Thanks again to every one trying to help your efforts are greatly appreciated
