I used to work for South African Railways and that version of the route is very accurate,I worked at Pinetown Goods as a checker on the old main line,the section modelled is between,Pietermaritzburg and Ladysmith,it was the first route in South Africa to be electrified,the first electric loco's were E1 BO BO,introduced 1922\3 and lasted in service until 1982,steam loco's used on the route were GMAM Garretts and 19D,both of which you can get from TS.COM,also you will find plenty of Coaches there and freight stock
Electric loco's 1E, 5E1,6E1,18E,Coaching stock best use pax old zip and for modern post 1995 myel.zip.formation for both were
1or2,K1 baggage,2 C34 First Class,AA37 Dining Car AA38 Kitchen Dinner,5E16 Second Class,6D39 3rd Class,there were 2 through trains a day one left Durban at 10.30 AM and stopped at most stations arrived Johannesburg 06.30 the following day,the other was the Trans Natal left Durban 18.30,arr Pietermaritzburg 20.15,Dep 20.30,arr Ladysmith 23.00 dep 23.15,average speed 50 Miles per hour,arr Johannesburg 07.30.
Monday,Wednesday Friday there was a through train to Cape Town,Left Durban 11.00 went via Pietermaritzburg Ladysmith,Bethleham,Kroonstaad,Kimberley,De Aar,Worcester North Cape Town took 2 and half days..
