Rheingold on Dresden to Lipzig Mainline
Hi folks
Here are the shots of the prototype E03 Class with a rake of blue and cream
Rheingold stock running out of Dresden:
Protrain 2 is my first ever add-on for MSTS, and I got that in May 2003 (15 years ago!).
I had a go when I first bought it, then I did not used it very often until last year when I
installed the route and run a few activities, including a drive from Lipzig to Dresden on
a BR232 diesel locomotive with a rake of IC coaching stock.
Protrain 2 was a very interesting route for a few reasons. Firstly, it is the first German
long-distance route to be built and was opened in April 1839. The route also includes
the first railway tunnel in Germany. Secondly, the route was in East Germany during
the Cold War era and services were operated under Deutsche Reichsbahn.
In reality, the Rheingold train ran in West Germany and ran between Hoek van Holland in
The Netherlands and Geneva in Switzerland via Cologne and Düsseldorf in West Germany.
Rheingold train services were operated by Deutsche Bundesbahn.
Cheers
