Camera view 4 modification
Hi everyone,
I know that there are a lot of different camera hacks available, however I have a specific request.
Is there a camera hack that prevents view 4 from going overhead?
I have tried fixining it myself but I can't figure out how to create the angle lock.
On a couple of routes that I have, when using view 4 the sim crashes back to the desktop if the camera views any loco from directly above i.e. the train passed directly under the camera.
The engines have been tested on different routes and when the engine passed beneth the camera the sim doesn't crash.
Now, I usually drive "headout", but when testing new things out or just watching the trains pass this can get annoying.
This has been happening for years but just recently the view 4 camera keeps wanting to go overhead for some weird reason.
I have the latest bin patch installed and I have MSTS installed on a Windows Vista Machine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Justin

Re: Camera view 4 modification
Hi Justin.
I had the same problem with a Russian narrow gauge route, I got round it by changing the view 4 camera to full control in camcfg.dat (as below)
camera ( CamTypeSpotter
CamType ( CamTypeSpotter CamControlFull )
Fov ( 60 )
ZClip ( 0.5 )
WagonNum ( 0 )
Description (Spotter_Cam)
ObjectOffset (0.0 3.0 0.0)
)
This does not stop the camera from appearing above the loco, but you can move it to one side very quickly using the arrow keys before it crashes.
You can move the camera 4 round at will on this setting, so you can set it to whatever angle, height and distance you like.
Hope that helps

Re: Camera view 4 modification
Hi Mark,
Thanks for that. I guessed there was no direct lock available, but I thought I'd check anyway.
