Japanese Route(s)
Hello all, wishful thinking, but, can anyone point me to a download site where I may find some Japanese Routes please (not Elvas Towers, as I cannot seem to be able to get onto that site anymore ). Neanderthal

Japanese Routes
Hi Roger, a search using Google reveals that Amazon.co.uk have a copy of
Japanese Routes for MSTS on sale for £19..99.
Further investigation the CD has two new routes i.e. Hokkaido Route and the
Usui Pass, comments about this package are they are both good routes and
well worth adding to your set up.
Looking on the Trainsim.com site also shows up two routes but these are free
Mountain City Railway down as JP7.zip and Hinatayama down as JP6.zip
Hope these help you in your search

Re: Japanese Route(s)
Hi Roger,
Before you have your "looksee" ....
I have that CD and have just installed it three times (!!).
Because I believe you only run Open Rails, I created an OR installation for it. The first attempt to run a route failed because there's no tsection.dat file. I cleared the installation, gave it a default tsection.dat file and reinstalled the CD.
The second OR run failed with a 'fatal error' (unspecified).
After uninstalling that version, I created a default MSTS installation and installed the CD into it. MSTS runs fine!
Tried to run exactly the same installation with Open Rails. This time, it started OK but the train I'd selected, wouldn't move even after I'd tried all the tricks!!
It should be noted that the installer modifies the existing tsection.dat file to add the Japanese track sections so I recommend that these routes are NOT installed with any others (except, maybe, the MSTS default routes).
I am prepared to carry out any other checks you may wish for but, as it stands, I cannot recommend it for use as an Open Rails-only installation because it seems to require some other MSTS default files.
I have NOT checked the two free routes from trainsim.com.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Japanese Route(s)
Hello Ged, I really must thank you for all the effort you put into these odd questions I seem to throw on TSSH. It's a shame indeed that it wont run in OR, but I'm glad you told me as I was about to order it
I did download the two Routes (Thank you Bob) from Trainsim.com, JP6 & JP7 and was pleasantly surprised that they both run, though as yet I have not done an end to end run on either (The old Khia's are not really up to the steep hill section).
Oh well being as I've now been saved £ 20:00 I'm off for a few Beers (and I'll even try a Dry Cider ).

Re: Japanese Route(s)
Hi Roger,
I must make an apology!!
I have just tried all 11 activities (6 + 5 ) for the two routes and all the trains seem to run properly. This is, of course, using the routes installed into a full default MSTS installation.
It seems that I selected an AI consist for my first MSTS/ORTS test!!
Cheers,
Ged

Thanks for that Ged, I'll have to take a look on Amazon when I get in tonight.
I tried the Cider (Hereford Vintage), Tasty, but very very cold LOL.

Hi Roger
Ice-cold dry cider on a hot Summer's day (remember them??) - Lovely!
Please bear in mind that Open Rails wouldn't even start when selecting one of the Japanese routes which is NOT installed in a full MSTS installation.
I will try to find out why, but no promises!

Ged

Re: Japanese Route(s)
Thank you Ged, but please don't go to any great trouble over this, I doubt I would pay that much for it anyway (as I'm Welsh, and we're even tighter than the Scots.)..

Hi Roger,
Is that true? If so, then, unless I really need to, I won't delve any further!
I bought my version through Amazon in 2013, for £7.99!!
Cheers,
Ged
