I have noticed that someone on trainsim.com has managed to successfully compile the source code for TSRE5.
The process seems to be lengthy and very technical with several pitfalls but for those with the necessary skills and a yearning to improve TSRE5 can now look at fixing some of the problems that annoy them (and others).
Several small problems have already been successfully fixed and versions V8.002 and V8.003 are available as downloadable zip files for those who wish to experiment.

TSRE5 Version 8.003 is still in test as far as I can see but can be downloaded from the TSRE Route Editor forum. Version 8.002 is in their File Library.
