Thames Mersey v4:3
So as I wrote once before, one of the most annoying things in OR is the sound of the air comp: cutting out every 8 or 10 seconds , I find it very off putting so !
So to start the act ,set the F4 / 6/10 and set the train in motion......Comp cuts in and out.
Pause and continue , same effect.
BUT... if I save ,Quit, and then Resume the Problem has gone completely, and the run is perfect.
This is on Thames Mersey Act 153, but has also worked on two other Acts ?

Hi
Oddly enough, I don't even have the player consist, only the AI version?
Anyway, the loco air parameters are set too low, and it's no wonder why the compressor sound is playing as you described! The SMS sounds files are not the problem, it's the ENG file!
For the UK_Diesel_BR_Class47_47146 ENG file:
Change from this
to this :
That bug must still remain where a certain air setting in the ENG file is not saved when resuming a saved game!
Thanks

Thanks for that, I will go through the rest of the Class 47s and set them all to the same setting. Would that work on any other Classes though ! Neanderthal.

Some stock have a max air pressure of 100psi, so you can set the compressor recharge between 85 and 90( as in real life ). The "AirBrakesMainResVolume"( 30 )can be left at that number.
For my stock, I normally set the AirBrakesMainResVolume at a number where I can make three full brake applications before the compressor recharges the Main Reservoir to max pressure.
If unsure about other stock, then post the relevant ENG file section on here
Thanks

Re: Thames Mersey v4:3
Once again thanks for that. I think its an Open Rails problem, quite a few trains fail to release the Brakes whilst others don't appear to have any at all. I'm not at all Technically minded so its probably best if I just set the Brakes as you advised, and dont use the ones without any .. Thanks again Neanderthal.

Re: Thames Mersey v4:3
The problem is many of the old MSTS files have very unrealistic brake parameters. Sometimes these include an unrealistic mixture of air brake and vacuum brake numbers on the same loco. This is a "Garbage In Garbage Out" situation. Either you have to edit the eng files to put in sensible parameters and values, otherwise OR does give you the option to use Simple Controls and Physics - which will ignore any rubbish and give you basic working trains.
