Route not loading
I have been trying to re-install the route Monon-2 V17. I had it running previously until my peevious PC died. Now however it does not appear in the list of routes when I start MSTS and when I try to open an activity in the Activity Editor I get the message "Failed to load track database".
I have it in a form of mini-route but have ensured that all the required extras are present - NewRoads, XTracks and ScaleRoads. Running checks with RouteRiter throws up nothing.
There is a .ref file and the tsection.dat file is version 42.
When I try to load the route I get a couple of odd error messages about missing stock, even though all the stock mentioned is present and the apparent errors are not to be found. However, I don't think this can be related to the main problem.
Incidentally, I found that RouteRiter throws a wobbly with wagon files of the form "vx190 box"/"vx190 box" and had to remove the spaces in the names and the quote marks. Is this an oddity of RouteRiter? There was nothing wrong with the files.
Any suggestions please?
One thought: it is a big route. Could that be causing problems?

Re: Route not loading
Hi Jonathan,
Sorry, but that doesn't make sense! Do you mean that the folder name is vx190 box with a space between the zero and b and the file name is similar? If not, where does this "vx190 box"/"vx190 box" appear, that you need to change?
I can't answer the Monon question at present, but it would seem that the route isn't fully installed. There are extensive instructions for installing this route - are you sure you've followed them all?
Were XTracks and New Roads specifically installed into your mini route or did you let them use the default installation location?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Route not loading
In answer to your first question, the folder name is vx190 box and the wag file is vx190 box.wag
In fact there is a whole suite of American wagons with similar names.
I specifically installed all three utilities in the mini-route. I did not completely follow the steam-for-me approach but created a copy of the basic installation which had already had the Microsoft updates added along with the most recent stable version of msts-bin. I followed the installation instructions for the route to the letter. I also spent a lot of time replacing the commercial items in the activities with freeware ones, but I am pretty sure I have not created a problem by doing so. For testing purposes I removed all but one of the activities.
I have had this problem in the past with a few other routes.
Presumably there is something missing but I can't work out what.

Hi Jonathan,
If not, and you haven't installed all the stock required for those activities, you will get numerous errors.
Cheers,
Ged
Did you also remove the corresponding Service and Consist files? For testing purposes I removed all but one of the activities.

Re: Route not loading
All the Services have been removed except for that for the Activity still in use, but in any case all the stock for all the Activities is present.
My feeling is that the message "Failed to load track database" when I try to use the Activity Editor indicates that something is missing.
I think I shall leave it for now. I have plenty of other routes to play with. Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Route not loading
Hi Jonathan,
You didn't answer my last question regarding XTracks and New Roads.
A common cause of "Failed to load Track database" is that XTracks (or whatever track system is used) is not installed.
Cheers,
Ged
