Re: Roderic's Yard
I have been making a number of signal boxes based on the Saxby and Farmer pattern used on ex LBSCR lines, two of which are shewn.
I hope to obtain permission from Rick Loader to upload these, as I have used his roof, doors and lever frame.
I wonder if anyone would find them useful. There are eight or more varieties so far.

Re: Roderic's Yard
Thanks. There are quite a few more to follow: all wood, all brick, stairs parallel to the sides etc.,etc. Variations on a theme. Very lucky to have Rick Loader's permission to use his lever frame, roof, doors and a few bits and pieces. It made the job much easier.

Re: Roderic's Yard
Very nice.
Would it be possible to arrange the textures such that a simple adjustment to the texture files could change the base green/cream to other railway colours, like, maroon/cream, chocolate/cream, blue/cream, etc.
Regards, Brian

Re: Roderic's Yard
It should be quite easy. I will have a go later on. You will have a fit when you see how inefficiently I have used the textures. Roderic

Re: Roderic's Yard
I have had a quick shot at altering a texture.
It's not too difficult, thought the doors are more of a challenge. Some adjustment of the tolerance of the colour replacer is necessary.
Feel free to have a go when the files are available.
On the subject of red locomotives, Fred Dibnah's Railway Collection has some shots of Princess Elizabeth and the Duchess of Sutherland in L.M.S. red. They take your breath away. They really do.
Kind regards,
Roderic

Re: Roderic's Yard
I have uploaded several signal boxes to UKTrainSim and made some improvements. I could do with a signalman. A flat one (two-sided) would do. Any suggestions?

Re: Roderic's Yard
I am about to upload a pair of timber Southern Railway signal boxes with forward-facing stairs. I have included improved textures and also proper night textures as well as snow. To get good night textures I had to reduce the saturation as much as the lightness, otherwise some colours turned red. I have also found some signalmen by courtesy of Modelu, who make superb finescale figures for every scale from N to 0. I hope to revise earlier models to bring them up to standard.

Re: Roderic's Yard
I have been working on Hever station building, made from some photographs I took two years ago. It needs some more work yet, and I hope to make a separate canopy which can be adjusted to suit the width of the platform. At present I am using a canopy downloaded from UKTS. This building, with minor modifications, will do for Edenbridge Town, Hever, Cowden and Ashurst.

Re: Roderic's Yard
Hi Roderic.
When I was making my snap together walls and fences, to make them work I had to put the point of origin close to the end of the shape, as viewed in Train Sim Modeller I usually put the point of origin to the left of the shape, and they always worked fine, but if I put the point of origin close to the right as viewed in TSM, I had the disappearing problem, I never knew why that happened, but after that I always put the origin closer to the left than to the right, even if only by a tiny amount where I wanted the origin in the centre.
Someone else may have a better answer to it, but that was how I got round it, not sure if it is the same situation with other 3D software as I only ever used TSM.

Hi Roderic,
Have you added roof panels separately ? If so it might help if you joined all the panels and made a single object.
I have a signalman if you still need one.

Hi Danny,
Yes, I made the panel pieces separately, joined them to make a complete panel, multiplied and joined all together. At present they are AlphDkShd. I tried AlphDkShd+, but I have not yet tried AlpDkShd-.

Hi Roderic,
AlphNorm+ worked for my roof panels, but it might not suit yours.
It looks as if you have quite a number of panels...have you thought of splitting them into 2 or 3 sections.
You're so close to a solution, so you might just have to solve it by trial and error.
Good Luck!

Hi Roderic,
They look terrific, let's hope that the route builders do find a use for them.

Stephen

Re: Roderic's Yard
Thank you. Only one texture file is used for each of the double-line tunnels. These are interchangeable so you can have several types of brick and stone for each one.

Re: Roderic's Yard
G'day Roderic,
Very nice !!! Well done.
Unfortunately, I only use X-Tracks for my route building, so these UKFS tunnels would be too narrow for me to use.
But, they really are nice !!!

Re: Roderic's Yard
At last I have the roof on Charing Cross Station, thanks to comments by Mark and Danny.
It was indeed a question of altering the point of origin.
There is still the coat of arms to put on, which is complicated by the fact that there are different versions on the internet and the badge is mounted on a fancy thing, which I think is called a cartouche. We'll see what happens.

Re: Roderic's Yard
G'day Roderic,
These new scenery items that you uploaded to UKTS yesterday, are they also available on the TSSH file downloads?
Remember that UKTS closes in just over a month. so they need to be also available on TSSH for the future.
Regards, Brian

Roderic's Yard
I'm waiting a couple if days to make sure they don't blow up; then I will send them to Justin to upload to TSSH. One of the E4s is on the TSSH site and I have sent Justin the second one. So far no one has complained about things not working so I think the scenery things are safe to send to Justin.

Re: Roderic's Yard
With the aid of street view I have filled in the gap under Hungerford Bridge. No, you don't see if you are a 'juice bloke' driving a train into Charing Cross or a steam train driver for that matter. Yes it is slightly dotty, but sometimes its nice to watch the traffic along the Thames Embankment, A lot of people have made some very nice road vehicles, especially Doc Martin.
I can upload it or send to anyone interested..
