Glasgow - Carlisle V4 is a further extension of the original Glasgow-Carlisle route, which focused on the mainline from Glasgow Central to Carlisle. Subsequent versions have centred on the suburban network around Glasgow.

V4 was Niall's first attempt at actual route-building, V3 was mostly a cosmetic route makeover. For the first time, a short stretch of North Clyde line was added to the route, along with further expansions along lines that originate from Glasgow Central. Notable stations include Glasgow Queen Street (Low Level), Partick and Johnstone, as well as the freight yard at Elderslie.

With 21 new stations added, overall, the route now consists of 90 stations.

A number of areas of the route were also given a makeover, including new station models at Gourock and Greenock Central.

The focal point of the route is around Glasgow Central and the tiles in this area were stripped right down and re-scenerised from scratch, including a brand new station.
