Keighley Model Railway Show
Have just got round to commenting on the visit to Keighley, as I wanted to watch England's RU match - they failed to win the Six Nations but plenty of tries.
Mark and I arrived about 11:15 after a pleasant drive across to Keighley from Chorley; sufficient sunshine to make for some nice views. Managed to find a parking place straight away, which was a bonus. There were some 12 layouts of various gauges, and of a good standard, and it was reasonable value for our £4 concessionary entrance - programme was free. I took a few pictures but they were of a substandard quality - unacceptable camera shake gave poor images and they have all been deleted. Perhaps Mark's might be better.
The main plus was meeting Bob and Ged and many a word was spoken on the subject of train simulation and computer hardware. As has been said putting a real face to fellow simmers makes postings and PMs just that little more personal. In addition UKTS DIY were there albeit showing the other sim. However it was pleasing to see them involving young children who hopefully will be the simmers of tomorrow.
I enjoyed both the show and the discussions, and was also able to obtain a S/H copy of LNWR Liveries plus a S/H copy of Southern Wagons Volume 3 SECR.
I look forward to the next adventure, although not sure where or when.

Hi Alec,
Yes, it was great meeting you, Mark and Bob, and, as you say, putting faces to the names
The whole model railway show seemed to have a good attendance - when I arrived at about 11:45, the car park was almost full!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Keighley Model Railway Show
Hi Alec, just a note to say I got back home around 6pm after making a detour to visit a former friend only
to find she had moved with telling me.
I had a reasonable journey down and met up with Mike and Duncan and John Chaddocks whom I had never
met before, I found a few empty spaces in the car park and boy was I pleased about that and from Ged's
comment it must of filled up very quickly.
I got in just before Mark and your goodself and like me, you headed straight for the UKTrainSim Live Show
before looking around at the layouts and people selling railway goodies.
It was as you say a good show for the price and that is why I come down every year to see all the exhibits
and I seem to get a warm welcome from the organisers who recognise me straight away.

Hi guys,
Glad to hear you had a great time and more importantly met up! It's always nice to put a face to the name....
Hopefully if there is something around central to all of us that we can all meet up at some point?
Cheers

Hi All
I echo all above, as has been said it's nice to put a face to a name, I'll go through the pics later and post some that are of acceptable quality (if any) Sorry I didn't post earlier but I put my feet up and nodded off, trouble with that is I won't sleep tonight now.
A big thanks to Alec for taking me over there for another enjoyable day out.

Sounds like you all had a great time. Shame that the show wasn't three months later as I'll be in the Keighley area at the beginning of July.

Re: Keighley Model Railway Show
There maybe another local show on whilst you're over here Stephen.
Some pics of the layouts, they are not brilliant pics but give some idea of what they were like..............
