Hi All,
I have just put a question up on the UKTS Routes section MES, asking how many people prefer to drive steam loco's using the MSTS automatic, and those who prefer to drive them with the automatic fireman turned off. It's we know how to set up the eng file.
Can you please put your replies in the UKTS  MSTS Routes site

Thank You

Mike

Hi Bob and Ben,
According to my straw poll nearlly every one uses the MSTS automatic fireman,so I think we will go by the majority.
Ben if you go to MSTS Routes you find it under MES

Hi Guys,

Just to be a pain, it depends on the class: some engines I find that the automatic fireman had no idea what he is doing so I end up sacking him and doing both jobs myself.
But that is on the rare occasion, mostly the automatic fireman works well.

Hi
Just to tell you with the straw pole it seems most people use the automatic fireman,so after tweaking the eng files to get more realistic running,we will set them up to use the MSTS automatic fireman.

Hi Art,
You will be pleased to know the majority want to use the automatic fireman,so all eng files will be set up to use it.

I can handle manual firing, but for ease and less hassle, I now run steam with auto firing controls set. Avoids firebox blow backs too, if you happen to forget to close the firebox doors when entering a tunnel. This has happened on a number of occasions when manual firing, but it is something worth trying if you have never ran a steam loco this way. A bit different than driving Diesels or Electrics , that's for sure.
