Thaxted Branch
Route Name = The Thaxted Branch
Route Author = Jur Snijder
Route Location = Essex, England
Route Mileage = 6 miles
Route Era = early 1950s
Route Source = from UKTS downloading at UKTrainSim.
Additional files required to be installed if not already done so = UK Finescale
Route Description =
An MSTS route available to download as noted above.
Additional activities and relevant stock are also available from UKTS.
“This is a representation of the Elsenham and Thaxted Light Railway, Essex, England.
Constructed in 1913 this was the last branch line built by the Great Eastern Railway.
The line connected with the London - Cambridge mainline at Elsenham and ran 6 miles through deeply rural countryside towards Thaxted.
Because of an intervening valley, Thaxted station was located more than a mile from the town. The branch led a quiet existence for 40 years, but ever-dwindling revenue led to its closure in 1952.”
This review was mainly put together by Justin with a small input from Alec.
It's worth noting that the three route download files can be unzipped using most ZIP utilities, however the zipped file within these needs to be unzipped using WinZip - I downloaded the free trial version to carry this out.
