Signatures: should we allow them?
Hello everyone,
A point has been raised recently about the signature function on this forum.
This issue has been raised that the signatures appear more than once on a page.
Now whilst other forums have the ability to limit the number of time a signature appears, this forum does not. This forum only has an on/off function for allowing signatures.
So the question is this: should we continue as we are (with only a handful of us actually having signatures) or should we completely not have them (remembering that there is no middle ground).
Please vote using the section above, and please feel free to leave your comments (not your votes as I would like this to be anonymous) below.

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
Hi Justin
I think there should be a limit on the size or number of lines of text in signatures, animated GIFs, huge pictures, or lines of text can be off putting, and maybe that track pic could be made a bit thinner (a little less prominent), I have seen signatures on other forums start to get a bit silly and the admin have had to put a limit on them to keep them in proportion.
That's my thoughts on it anyway

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
Hi Mark,
I have thined out the track image, but unfortunatly signautre size limits aren't available for this forum (not setup by the hosts). Perhaps a "written rule" would be a good idea, say one small image (if desired) but no more than 5 text lines in full size?

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
I have voted YES although I also believe we need to exercise a degree of compromise, and I would suggest a single line of text. I will look at amending my own and perhaps reduce its size, etc.

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
I'm not bothered either way to be honest.
To be honest, the one thing I woul like, but suspect is not possible would be Tapatalk integration at which point signatures etc disappear out the window.

Truth is rarely pure, and never simple.
Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
Hi all,
Peoples signatures don't bother me as I find it easier to see whom has posted if anything.
Also I think we are limited to what we are able to do with how the forum is designed. My Forum uses the same tools as well.
Cheers
Andy

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
Hi Justin
Thanks, that track looks better.
A written rule on signature sizes is how it is normally done as I don't think many forums software incorporates an automatic limit.

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
I voted NO but I would not object to a single line.
It would help to spread the word.
If it's got buffers it's Chain.

Re: Signatures: should we allow them?
I think a written rule should be added in to the rules.

Hi Everyone,
Just letting you know that a decision has been made on the forum rule for signatures.
Could you please all read the global announcement at the top of the pages.
Thank you,
Justin
