Microsoft Update
Just a quick thought but I had a rather large update last week from Microsoft, and now I'm having trouble with OR ? is anyone else ?
What happens ? Toddling along happily the Sim just suddenly stops, even the Curser pointer disappears, Pressing escape does nothing, nor does CTRL Alt Delete, everything just stays frozen.
I go out make a Coffee and come back to find the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" telling me my PC has met with an Error. and needs to restart. Any ideas before I throw a wobbly and delete the lot.. :
I get the feeling this is down to Microsoft wanting me to go onto Win 11 even though they say my PC cannot !

Re: Microsoft Update
Hi Roger,
Sorry, I can't help
I've not had any recent updates to Windows 10 so don't know what could be causing your problem.
Usually, the update sets a Restore point before applying it - can you use that to restore the system to the state in was in before the update?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Microsoft Update
Hi Roger
I'm completely up to date with Windows updates and far ahead with OR - I use the Unstable version mostly because I like tinkering with the code. I've had no problems at all. I'm still on Windows 10 because I haven't got round to buying an up to date PC that will run Windows 11.
The type of symptoms you describe suggest you could have a hardware problem. Have you checked the event logs to see if there is anything helpful there?

Re: Microsoft Update
Thank you both, for answering. Dennis I wouldn't have a clue on how to find the "event logs".that's why I'm called Neanderthal
If I'm looking in the right place there appears to be Hundreds of Errors ?
Critical Errors 5 Kernal Power in the last 7 days (But that could be where I've force stopped the PC ?).
Sorry but this is all above my Pay Grade.
Maybe it's time to go Win 11, if OPEN RAILS works on it Roger.

Re: Microsoft Update
Hi Roger,
Regarding your query re updating to Win 11; I have recently purchased a Lenovo gaming PC running on Win 11 and I can say that Open Rails certainly works. Hope this is of assistance.
Regards KenH.

Re: Microsoft Update
Thanks for that Ken, it would certainly appear to be the best way forward for me if I wish to keep OR.

Re: Microsoft Update
Just to add in confirmation, I purchased a Cyberpower desktop PC last year which runs Windows 11 Home and OR performs perfectly.
Cyberpower Desktop with AMD Ryzen 5 CPU. 16GB RAM. ATI AMD Radeon RX6700 12GB graphics. Windows 11 Home 64bit. RailDriver. Partridge in a pear tree....

Re: Microsoft Update
Thank you Nick, I'm looking at that option, but am slightly worried in case the fault is in my files not the PC....Neanderthal
