New Forest V3
Hi,
Just getting back into the excellent openrails routes but having issues with one particular route - New Forest V3. Have downloaded a clone via Github as recommended (20.7gb , 39675 files, maybe worth checking if I'm missing some files, I've a feeling this could be the problem?) , using latest unstable OR (have also tried latest stable) but can't get the route to load when choosing a service - throws up errors such as these ones below. Just wondering if it's just a problem with me doing something not right (most probable) or have any other folks had issues with this route? Have tried the Nfl3, Nfl4 and v4d timetables. PC should be able to cope, i77700k, nvid 1080 graphics card, 32GB ram. Old but still capable. Not having any issues with any other routes at the mo (GE2, Mid east etc etc).
Many thanks.

Re: New Forest V3
So for anyone that is interested, I've managed to get a service started - the 1156 in the timetable. This appears to only work in the stable OR release, not the unstable as recommended in the instructions. And this only works in the V3 not V4 timetable. I've also tried the earlier github version of the route (3.01, not main) and this couldn't run in stable or unstable OR. There's quite a lot of permutations to try here, so I'm not really sure what I should be using.
Anyway, the service is excellent, what a great looking route, very impressed. Will be interested to hear others thoughts re if they've got services running OK.

Hi fakenham,
Welcome the the Forum
May I suggest that you register at elvastower.com?
The reason being that most of us here are not up to speed regarding Open Rails Timetables.
Over there, Rick, the author of the New Forest route, has been making posts concerning use of timetables. Most of the OR developers read and post on the elvastower Forums so you're more likely to get a quicker response to your queries.
Having said that, your first post, with the OR log, seems to show that you have problems other than with Timetables which may indicate that, as you surmise, you are missing some files.
Personally, I've not downloaded the latest New Forest route (yet) and am not interested in the Timetable option!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: New Forest V3
Thank you for your interest in New Forest Route, and I am sorry you are having problems.
The timetable actually comprises linked timetables with static consists split away from the loco hauled trains.
There are also timetables for V3 and V4 the current WIP expansion .
If you look at the menu there will be a "timetable set" window. Choose "player set V3 timetable" then "NfI4" in the timetable window
There is also a player set V4 which gives you the timetable for the latest V4 expansion. But I don`t recommend this as it is in constant change.
The PLAYER SET loads both the player trains with locos and the STATIC timetable the static carriages needed for the services.
If you load a timetable directly (NfI4 or V4d) the static consists will be missing.
The reason for the separate timetables is that users complained they could not distinguish between static and player trains, and OR complained not finding a loco
The line in your log suggests you are trying to run the static timetable
H:\NewForestRouteV3\ROUTES\Watersnake\ACTIVITIES\OPENRAILS\V4aSTATIC.timetable-or
The log should look like this
File = C:\NewforestRoute\NewForestRouteV3\ROUTES\Watersnake\ACTIVITIES\OPENRAILS\PLAYER_SET_V4.timetablelist-or
Train = V4d:725RmseySotonTDEMU2
Please try the PLAYER SET. If this does not work we will investigate further

Re: New Forest V3
Thanks Rick, yes I've had more success recently, using the player V3 timetable and the stable OR.
I've noticed some missing consists in some services, for example 553SotonT71A2704mt shows a missing consist in the description (missing : RL_4MT_76005L09$reverse)...., I'm guessing this is normal or am I actually missing something important for the route to run OK?
But thanks again for this great route, the timetable really immerses you in the route with all those services doing their stuff.

Re: New Forest V3
I am glad you have the timetable working. Yes the player_set_V3 is the best bet, being relatively consistent. V4 is in development and although it fixes some glitches, it has the chance of introducing new ones.. V4 timetable also requires the V4 route expansion. This is best accessed from Github desktop to allow the continuing updates.
The missing consist error does not seem to matter. I think it refers to the "include" statements that allow the correct head lamps / disks.
You are probably wise to stick with the stable version of OR. The unstable used to be fine but the timetable seems to be less reliable with the latest unstable versions.
Thank you for your perseverance and feedback. It is rare that anyone comments about New Forest Route. It is not praise that I am after, but rather reassurance that hundreds of frustrated users have not given up in disgust

Re: New Forest V3
No worries, thanks again for your reply. It's a brilliant effort, the timetable really gives you a feeling of a living breathing railway. Also loving the feeling of realistic physics in OR, these coupled with rock steady 60fps really does make it a more realistic train sim compared to others. The sim needs more exposure I think, I've a feeling not many folk know about it and excellent routes like yours.
I actually don't know a lot about steam loco's and their operation, so I'm having great fun in learning all the bits and bobs about how they work. I've been watching some really interesting videos on Youtube such as these, fascinating stuff!
