JLU LN53- 05.59 Buxton to Clitheroe
I couldn't make up my mind whether to post this as OR or MSTS as I'm using OR to drive an MSTS ACT so please excuse if I've picked the wrong one.
on this route you start at Buxton, but the "Next Station does not show where you are , or count down to your leaving time. You do get a message saying not to leave before 05.59,and at that time you do get a message saying you can leave, but the Signal stays firmly at STOP.
So on first try a waited for it to clear....it didn't.
So on second try I waited for the right away and tried to "Tab" through....It would not give permission.
On the third attempt when given the "Right Away" I just drove through the "Red", which worked, but the Speed Limit was set at "Zero".
The Next Station indicator showed "Dove Holes" and "Chapel en le Frith" but no "Miles to".
As I arrived at "Chapel" you are suddenly given the "Speed Limits",but still no "Distance to next Station"
Also I find the "Track Monitor"did not show up any Stations.
I went onto Ged's Activity Time App and all the Stations and Times DO show up on there.
So simply all I am asking is how (if possible) to get the Monitors working.... The Activity runs famously I must add.
On a lighter note I wonder is this the original X Tracks ( found on a visit to the old Iron Works)

Hi Roger,
The reason Buxton doesn't show in the "Next Station" indicator is that for some reason best known to the activity author he decided to use messages for the station stop times. I've run the first few minutes in OR 1.4, NYORMG v122 and MSTS and in each the signal is at green so I can leave Buxton at the right time and get to the next station on time ( just!! ). The OR log file gives a lot of errors with the route which could, perhaps, explain your signal problem. I have often found that activities created for MSTS don't work properly, if at all, with Open Rails - this also includes some of mine which I have had to modify to get them to work. Have you tried this activity with MSTS? and if so with what result?
I'll run this activity further and see if I come across your other problems and let you know.
I think you could be right about the X-Tracks.
Regards,
Stephen

Sorry Stephen I did not explain it very well, it is only the Signal as you leave Buxton that stays in the stop position, But the speed limit is firmly stuck on Zero all the way to Chapel en le Frith,and the track Monitor does not show Platforms either...Next Station shows only Dove Holes and Chapel en le Frith for the whole Activity
I can only use Open Rails, so maybe this is one of those Acts that just doesn't like to run on it. Thanks Neanderthal

Hi Roger,
Your explanation is fine, it's my trying to explain things which isn't always very good!!
Your biggest problem is why the first signal is at Red when there is no reason for it to be. I can't help you with that - it needs someone with greater skills than I.
If you try switching to "manual" ( Ctrl+M ) then "tab" to pass the signal and go back to "auto" once past the signal does this help?
I don't know what else to suggest,
Stephen

Yes that works fine thank you, the other problems are bearable as the Act runs nicely Neanderthal.

Hi Roger,
The original problems that you are experiencing with this activity ie: signal fixed at stop and non working monitors, are almost certainly caused by a “loose consist” that is placed on the same track at the rear of the player consist. This loose consist appears in the .act file as the first item of rolling stock listed as follows:-
ActivityObjects (
ActivityObject (
ObjectType ( WagonsList )
Train_Config (
TrainCfg ( ""
Name ( "Loose consist." )
Serial ( 14 )
MaxVelocity ( 33.52800 1.00000 )
NextWagonUID ( 4 )
Durability ( 1.00000 )
Engine (
UiD ( 0 )
EngineData ( #Northern156DMSblue NWE_Northern156blue )
)
Engine (
Flip ( )
UiD ( 1 )
EngineData ( #Northern156DMS NWE_Northern156 )
)
Engine (
UiD ( 2 )
EngineData ( #Northern156DMSblue NWE_Northern156blue )
)
Engine (
Flip ( )
UiD ( 3 )
EngineData ( #Northern156DMS NWE_Northern156 )
)
)
)
Direction ( 173 )
ID ( 32770 )
Tile ( -6114 15013 48.8337 948.202 )
)
If the above entry is amended to read this:-
ActivityObjects (
ActivityObject (
ObjectType ( WagonsList )
Train_Config (
TrainCfg ( ""
Name ( "Loose consist." )
Serial ( 14 )
MaxVelocity ( 33.52800 1.00000 )

)
)
Direction ( 173 )
ID ( 32770 )
Tile ( -6114 15013 23.4044 934.874 )
)
You should find that the activity will start with an “off “ green signal and all monitors functioning.
Changes are as follows:-
NextWagonUID ( 4 ) to NextWagonUID ( 2 )
Removal of the rear two vehicles of the loose consist.
Changes to the “Tile” entry from this:-
Tile ( -6114 15013 48.8337 948.202 )
to this:-
Tile ( -6114 15013 23.4044 934.874 )
If you have access to the MSTS activity editor you could of course edit the consist in that tool. The loose consist id is:- ID ( 32770 )
This alteration does not seem to affect the activity when using MSTS.
As always a backup copy of the activity file should be made before any alterations are attempted ......... just in case!!
Hope that the above helps.
Cheers for now,
Terry W.

Works Great now.
Many thanks for that (simple) fix Terry. I took an hour or two to build myself up into doing it as I usually end up in the Smelly Stuff when I try altering things.
Altered entered and saved, and as you said everything now works great... Roger

Hi Roger,
Good to hear that you now have this activity running as intended AND for editing the .act file.
