Problematics
Ok I've put open Rails on my PC, and reinstalled MSTS as told,so I have a question (only one you say, well no not really) I've tried to run the basic MSTS games and it appears that although Steam activities run ok I'm having TROUBLES getting the Brakes to release on everything else. Anyone else had this problem ? and / or can you point me in the right direction please. Thanks Roger.
Roger
Re: Problematics
Hi Roger,
The sticking point with OR is that you need to initialize the brakes (it's sort of a final release function when you first start the trains).
To do so you need to press the "/" key on the keyboard.
You will find that most times that you go to move a train off for the first time (or sometimes after multiple brake applications) that you need to do this with all types of locomotives as I know that my NSWGR C38s require t to be done to them to get them moving. I have gotten into the habit of doing it after every brake-stop.

Justin

Re: Problematics
Hi Roger,
No problems, we all need a bit of guidance now and then!
As for loosing models, that is a whole different can of worms...
It can vary from a minor reference issue within the Eng/Wag files to a minor error in the shape file to something completely wrong.
Depending on how adventurous you feel, you could try loading the model with a known working Eng file to see if it loads.
Otherwise it then becomes a massive game of find the problem...
One of MSTS's faults is that it can accept wildly varying parameters and still work, OR is a whole lot tighter with what it does and doesn't accept.
That is why you will often find OR patches/upgrades for MSTS stock so that they work in the new sim.

Justin

Hi All,

Normally I don't get problems with vacuum brakes but I often do with air brakes, especially loco hauled consists.
I have found that if you save the activity very soon after starting, exit OpenRails and then reload, the brakes work properly for the rest of the activity.
