Help with Braking definitions

I'm currently developing an LYR wagon used for conveying Hydro-Carbon (Benzene?). I'm aware of two that were in service one of which had a through vacuum pipe and the other was vacuum braked. I understand what's required for the latter but not sure what is meant by the former? Does it mean literally that a vacuum pipe ran underneath the chassis but wasn't used to brake the wagon? Only too happy to admit my ignorance in this matter!

The wagon has a thru pipe to allow operation of the automatic brakes on wagons behind it.

However there is problem with MSTS where an auto brake, once applied, can only be released from the loco thru the train pipe.
This applies if you uncouple a vacuum brake wagon, go into a siding to collect a handbrake only wagon, and re-attach to the train.
You will be unable to move the train as their will not be a continuous brake connection from the loco.
To get around this problem I build all my non fitted wagons as piped.

This applies to both vacuum and air.

Just ccopy the brake section from any of my unfitted wagons of similar mass.

Thanks for that Ian, and that is what I have done for all of my LYR wagons - all unfitted - to date. I have adopted the same brake definitions in both CHAIN and AUTO versions; i.e.

BrakeEquipmentType ( "Handbrake, vacuum_brake" )
BrakeSystemType ( "Vacuum_piped" )

I shall therefore add some vacuum connections to this particular wagon.

I have also used Stuart Williamson's SWB Wagon Sounds (UKTS File ID 3290) for all wagons so far.

Any vehicles that were through piped, had the connections painted white, to show the guards/train pre-parers that they were non-braked.
