Albula 2.1
So today I decided to resurrect the "Albula" Route and see whether it would run in Open Rails (Glacier Express refuses to run with all Signal lights at STOP)
Well it did run but when pulling into fillisur I met up with trains actually "Cartwheeling" down the track. Now it's a long time ago, but did this happen on MSTS.
Still it makes for an interesting meet. Odd but the route does run, Roger.

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Roger,
The 'cartwheeling coaches' are caused by an error in the shape file. There was a post regarding this problem some time ago on elvastower, but I can't remember where it was. I'll see if I can find it!
I don't think it happened in MSTS.
Cheers,
Ged

Thank you Ged ,I gave up on Elvas Tower a long time ago. If you can find it that would be nice ,thanks, but dont put yourself to any great trouble over it. I did try the forums on TrainSim.com but couldn't see it mentioned Roger

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Roger,
I couldn't find it on elvastower on my first search, but did find this on trainsim.com, which is in response to a member posting that some wagons were somersaulting!
I posted this explanation on ElvasTower when someone over there had the same problem.
I know exactly what's going and and was able to fix it on my end. It has to do with how the hierarchy nodes are named in the shape files. For some reason the trailer's main node was given a WHEELS name instead of MAIN as is standard. OR sees the WHEELS name and thinks they are supposed to be animated, that's what causes the rotation. I went through the shapes individually and manually re-named the hierarchy node in question from WHEELS# to MAIN and the problem was solved on my end.
Do you know which vehicles in Albula are cartwheeling?
Cheers,
Ged

Ged you know me better than that, I haven't got a clue LOL.It's not that important,I'll just look the other way as I'm passing them, Roger ,PS there are at least 3 AI trains you pass doing it,but the game does carry on running..
I only asked because I thought it was something I had done...

Hi Roger,
No. mate, it's nothing you've done, but I think it should be corrected, if at all possible
If you don't know which stock it is, can you tell me which activity you were running when you saw the 'rolling' stock, please !!
You've told me that the station is Fillisur so it shouldn't be too difficult to determine which stock it is.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Roger,
The vehicle rolling over is RhB_BDt1721-A.eng (in folder RhB_BDt1721-A).
The problem is that the whole vehicle is specified as a wheel!!
I have been able to modify its shape file to stop it rolling, but its wheels don't revolve, although it's not that noticeable.
I'm not able to attach the file here, but you can download it from my Google Drive - just double-click this link
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UR-3L6JSntt38eFkUKR9V1beSdojAWS0/view?usp=sharing
... then left-click the download icon at the top right of the display.
If you want to use the modified file, unpack the .zip file to get the shape file (RhB-BDt1721.s), then copy this into the RhB_BDt1721-A folder, allowing overwrites.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Hu Roger,
Glad to be able to help
There may be other such afflicted vehicles in the Albula TRAINSET - if you come across any, please let me know and, hopefully, I'll be able to fix them.
Cheers,
Ged

GEX 460
Hi Ged, perhaps you can assist with a similar problems I found when running the GEX consists on Open Rails. The GEX 460 power car does somersaults as previous reported by Roger in this post I have looked at the Shape File but it appears as in hieroglyphics using context editor are you aware of another program available to enable the reading of this file. Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Ken,
You need to uncompress the shape file using Shape File Manager. When it's uncompressed, SFM can link to WordPad to display the file which can then be edited as required. Save the modified file and go back into SFM to re-compress it.
That's it, in a nutshell, but I'll have a look at GEX 460. Ah! It's not in Albula!! I don't seem to have it in my archives either - can you please tell me where to find it?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Ken,
Since we are in Switzerland, I took GEX to mean Glacer Express!
I have now found the Class460D and Class460L files. They both have exactly the same problem as Roger's Swiss vehicle!
Are you able to sort them out yourself, or would you like me to (attempt to) fix them?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Ken,
The two shape files can be found in the .zip file which you can download from this link :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14H_-FU-APQn4KT3GuoJ2JWba11OHFU0C/view?usp=sharing
Unpack the .zip file, then copy Class460D.s and Class460L.s into the Class460_GEX folder, allowing overwrites.
You'll find that the wheels of the vehicles don't revolve. However, the wheels of the associated, unmodified, coaches also don't revolve!!
This Class460_GEX stock seems to have been one of Dave Babb's earlier models. There do not seem to have been any patches issued for it and I've not been able to find any newer Class460 vehicles from UKTS, Making Tracks or EuropeanBahn (but that doesn't mean there weren't any!!).
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Well we're on about the Albula line (I know its rather an old route) I was just wondering were there any updated Cab Views. The acts run well, but the cabs are miles away from the Engine you see from an outside view (Acela ?.) or were they on UKTS ?
Roger
Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Roger,
Would you like to give some examples, please?
I've checked a couple of locos in MSTS and Open Rails and didn't notice anything 'miles away' from where it should be!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Albula 2.1
Sorry Ged (once again) I have not expressed myself very well.
I was talking about the actual cab in the train ie the Acela cab when you are actually driving RhB353 GE 4/6 or RhB 414A Ge 6/61.
This is not a criticism in any way, I was just wondering if or not a more suitable Cab had been made available Not that I would probably have managed to alter it even if it had...Roger..

Re: Albula 2.1
Hi Roger,
Ah! You meant that the supplied cabview is nothing like the real one!!
You'll probably find something suitable in the Bernina route. I have a large selection of European cabviews but nothing specifically for GE 4/6 or 6/61 locos. Have you looked at the thetrain.de site?
Cheers,
Ged
