Shimmering track

Having returned to MSTS content via Open Rails, a frustration is shimmering or flickering track. This seems to affect some routes, but not others eg Ballyshannon and Mid East UK (original) are fine, but London & South East and Steyning flicker badly - the latter particularly so.

There seems to be a partial fix - works partially in LSE anyway, but seems not to help Steyning - using replacement files for the OR Scotish demo route, but these don't cover all shapes used by the routes with track flicker. Either that or edit all the track shapes manually.

...I see Brace_2011 mentioned he'd hand-edited all the UK finescale trackshapes to kill the darned shimmer, but can't put this on general release without appropriate permissions.

There is a cryptic description in the readme of the partial fix (file _or_profile.xip, from UKTrainSim IIRC) which says:

To alter an existing track shape to avoid flickering, increase the height of the sleepers matrix by 0.01m.

As hand-editing these files like Brace_2011 did seems to be the only current solution, can somebody point me please in the direction of advice or instruction in how to make these edits - specifically:

1. what files will need edited for a route exhibiting track flicker, and

2. what do you use to edit them?

Well, that worked a treat, shimmering or flickering track gone, on both Steyning (upper pic, with LSE EMU) and on LSE (with Turbostar interloper from UKTS). None seen now where it was everywhere before, and hugely distracting. Many thanks Ged!
