Annoying Windows 10 notification update KB3035583!
I suspect that I may not be the only person who gets annoyed by MS continually "updating" my OS with KB3035583, which is the one that says that W10 is ready and waiting! I keep "telling" the computer not to install it but somehow it creeps through. I then have to go to updates and tell the computer to uninstall it. I don't want W10 until I have a cast iron guarantee that MSTS will run with no problems - don't really expect it to though. In addition there are conflicting reports about it's current efficacy, so who knows . . . . .

I have the little icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, it says "get windows 10" when I hover the mouse pointer over it.
It has never tried to auto install (so far) it just gives the option to install it via the icon.
From what I've read MSTS will work under windows 10, but only with an NVidia card installed (the same as with win 8. )

Hi Alec and Mark, like you I tried deleting the Windows Update to get rid of the icon on my Taskbar, but
when restarting my computer it re-installs it again so I'm back square one.
As this is the case from now on, I just ignore it and will never install Win 10 in any computer I buy in the
future and will stick with XP and Win 7 which I know will run MSTS.

Just to make things clear I am only uninstalling the referenced KB update, which is the one that that creates the icon, etc. It annoys me because in my opinion it's analogous to to cold telephone calls!

Sorry Alec, I was under the impression from your OP that it was installing win 10 onto your computer with no input from you, I just ignore that little icon on the bottom of the screen.

I "ordered" the update, subsequently thought about it, and then cancelled the upgrade. The icon is (irritatingly) still there on the task bar, but I soon managed to learn to ignore it

I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 10 and have not regretted it one little bit, in fact I quite like windows 10 now I have got used to it, the upgrade was relatively painless and within 48 hrs I had everything back to how I like it but running much better.

Completely different situation here Mark!Markh5682 wrote:I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 10 and have not regretted it one little bit, in fact I quite like windows 10 now I have got used to it, the upgrade was relatively painless and within 48 hrs I had everything back to how I like it but running much better.
After upgrade, I couldn't connect to t'internet as "some essential protocols were missing"
I got that sorted, and msts ran like a dream, or so I thought!
Although the sim was great, the editors were a completely different kettle of fish.
AE was like treacle, and although it would open, it was impossible to zoom in on the map.
RE just refused to load.
So I've rolled back to win7 (took less than 5 mins) and it was like putting on a pair of old, comfy slippers.

Hi All,
I'm like Mark and am happy with W10. It does take getting used to but a lot things run faster and better. I had the usual graphics card problem which was easily cured with the "fix". So far I've not had any problems with the MSTS AE and RE. My biggest complaint is not being able to bring my different drives as easily as with W7 - I have 4 drives but I am expecting that I shall have to do a big upgrade in the not to distant future as I am running out of space.
Regards,
Stephen
