Re: At the End of the Line
Sorry Roger, Could you provide further information.
There is a picture of an un indentified Unrebuilt Battle of Britain. Do you know which one it is?
The scrap merchant at Bridgend was RS Hayes or Heyes.
Cheers
Andy

Re: At the End of the Line
Sorry Andy I cannot give you any info.I have been trying to find out through the Railway Clubs I am a member of,and have even tried messing around with the Picture to see whether or not I could read its number.
The Yard was indeed run by Hayes...and Birds.
EDIT
Extra,Found a list of this type of Locos scrapped at this yard, surprisingly not very many Bullieds at all.
34062 17 Squadron
34075 264 Squadron
34083 605 Squadron
34014 Budleigh Salterton
35021 New Zealand Lines

Hi Roger
34062 was a Rebuilt so that brings it down to 34075 or 34083, When I first viewed the picture the number looked like 34075 I was able to copy and zoom, although the number is not sharp it certainly contains the number 7. so can only be 34075
The yard is indeed was called Tremains and RS Hayes had it until 1965 when it then became Birds.
Two locomotives that were not scrapped by RS Hayes although purchased, were King class 6023 and 6024, they were enroute via Barry, where they were stopped as they were out of gauge, subsequently being resold to Woodhams.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Andy

Re: At the End of the Line
Hi Roger, 34075 was disposed in the Birds Scrapyard Bridgend on the 07/05/1966 whilst the
34083 was disposed of in the Tremains Scrapyard also in Bridgend on the 31/10/1965.
I did a Google search for both loco's and one site revealed their final demise.

Nice thread, Roger. It's difficult to be sure but it looks as if the nameplate is still carried........very unusual if it is.!
