Mothers Day
Don't forget that today is Mothers Day.
Please note that this relates to the note on the Calendar which clearly shows this day to be the 15th!!!!!!

Re: Mothers Day
Hi,
You are quite correct, Roger!
But, to be my pedantic self, it should be Mothering Sunday - it has religious connotations, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothering_Sunday.
I think the modern Mother's Day is another import from North America !!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Mothers Day
Sorry to say, but it's actually next Sunday the 15th, the Fourth Sunday in Lent:
http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/uk/mothering-sunday
This Sunday is Commonwealth Day, which means we get to sing lots of loud, shouty music with the Royal NZ Navy Band behind us.
For a penitential season, Lent can be awfully fun at times.

Re: Mothers Day
Hi Alec,
You've got me, and probably others, confused
I don't know which calendar you're looking at - maybe it's something on this site? Mine shows Friday Mar 06, but perhaps it was a glitch earlier which I missed!!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Mothers Day
Mmmmmmmmmmm . . immediately to the right of "Home" at the top of the opening screen of TSSH is "Calendar". When you click on this you are taken to a Calendar, where birthdays and other events are noted. I post on there to indicate model railway shows , etc. and in this instance mentioned Mothers Day.

Re: Mothers Day
Hi Everyone, as Ged has stated it is a Religious Day and should be called Mothering Sunday and is not a
day to give thanks or cards to your birth mother.
The Reverend Richard Coles in one episode of QI pointed out that the general view of the U.K. was wrong
and so people should instead worship in the Mother Church on that day.
