So it can be done
It took 3 attempts,1st try I ground to a halt and couldn't get going again,2nd try I ran out of water,
But how chuffed was I when I finally got there.

Well done Roger!
You have done better than me, I can just about make it to that first cottage, the speed drops out and I grind to a stand.
So how do you do it, whats the formula?
Cheers

Re: So it can be done
Hello Andy, having made it to the Summit with 2% Coal left I'm beginning to think it was more luck than Skill.I can make it to the last Water tower, every time, but only just,I think there should be a W/T further down and I'm not seeing it.Two attempts today have failed,as I say at the last W/T,about 1/4 of a mile from Summit, once due to Coal and once when ran out of water,BUT I'M GOING TO TRY AGAIN.

Re: So it can be done
Which New Zealand route is this one, Andrew? Nice screen shots!
Running the Moffat Tunnel Route at present, over the old Rollins Pass.
Then I am going to go into the RE and add some more objects to improve the route for my own personal use. Once done, I will burn the upgraded route to a CD, so I can always install it again, if I decide to take it off.
I have added lots of stuff to most of my routes in this way, mostly populating stations as most routes lack passengers on stations.

Now I'm HappyAndy,I've got there again.
,exiting the final tunnel.
,a rear view of final Tunnel
,entry into Summit
,rear view
A final view just to make sure the whole train has actually arrived.Arrived with534 gallons of Water, but Coal was on 1% as I came out of Tunnel (that's a close call).
Time to complete 52 minutes.

Rave from the Grave in Open Rails
Well with great thanks to Ged I have been able to run this Route again (Rimutaka Incline) and what can I say.
It's different this time using OR, You could only just make it with MSTS
Now you can creep up to the Summit with 10% Regulator 70% Reverser.
Not so challenging maybe, but lovely none the less.
