St Blazey Turntable
Hi all,
You might have read that the only loco turning facility west of Plymouth is now out of use. The turntable at St Blazey, whilst owned by Network Rail has not been maintained by DB Schencker and has now fallen out of use, because it has become 'unsafe'. DBS claim that they have no business reason to maintain it and, as a result, steam trains across the Tamar will now need to run tender first, at a restricted speed - a highly undesirable state of affairs.
Volunteers at the Bodmin & Wenford steam railway are prepared to commit resources to bringing the turntable back into use, if there is sufficient public support.

There is also a fuller story in the Cornish Guardian:

I hope you will all join me in saving this Turntable?
Many Thanks
Andy

Re: St Blazey Turntable
Hi all,
There is a short article on this in the June 2014 Railway Magazine which also says that Network Rail is the ultimate owner of the site and the turntable.
Regards,
Stephen
