Sound Settings.

Hi All.
I am having a problem hearing what the Signalman says tried settings but cant make it louder any advice please??

Hi Art,funnily enough I've had this problem and have found that press 2 and the Signal can be heard Ok,dont know why though being outside the train would make a difference as it doesn't work if your driving a Steam train with you head out.Hope it helps Roger.

It's no problem, mate!  We're all here to help each other
Check MSTS first - make sure all the sliders for the MSTS sounds (in Options) are set to the right hand side.
If this still doesn't help, and all sounds are affected, make sure the volume of sounds in Windows (not MSTS) is turned up; find the loudspeaker symbol in the system tray (bottom right of the Desktop) and left click on it - make sure the slider is at the top.

Done all as instucted much better  now but Signalman still not loud enough so it must be my hearing.

Open up the main MSTS SOUND folder (not the one in any route folder) and find the file called d_perm01.wav - you may not see the .wav part, but it doesn't matter - double-click on it and Windows Media Player will play it.  If it's still too low to hear properly, and you've already set the Windows volume control to full (in the System Tray), then that's as loud as you can get it.
Incidentally, Roger's suggestion of pressing 2 then pressing TAB to hear the signalman is good, and something I have to do sometimes!  The reason is that in view 2, the various engine sounds are very much reduced, or eliminated altogether, making it easier to hear what the signalman is saying.

Hi Art,

Not necessarily deafness. Think of real life situations and how background noises affect what you hear ( especially SWMBO!! ). The sounds in MSTS are much the same. A lot depends on the volume of the recorded message, couple this with all the other sounds in a station including your own loco, this will determine how much of the "Right Away" you hear.
