Who needs friends...?
Good morning...
I don't know whether the wording on the Forum Profile page is fixed by the phpBB developers, but I find it rather disconcerting to be told that I have no friends!
I do, honest - I think!
Best wishes
Pete

Re: Who needs friends...?
Hi Pete.
We are all friends on here
Some social forums that have lots of members use the add as friends function (mainly teenagers who collect as many friends as they can on Bookface as a form of oneupmanship to prove how popular they are), you can add friends if you like. not sure how it works though as I haven't tried it.
The wording on the profile page is a bit unfortunate though

Re: Who needs friends...?
Hi guys,
Unfortunately this is a preset function by the phpBB developers.
Although I do get a giggle out of it, considering how we are all friends (I hope) and yet because we don't behave all "childish" by listing who our friends are the forum software insist on saying "you have no friends".
I have been looking for a way to shut it off but no luck so far.

For those who might be interested you can request to be a friend to another member by going to the "Friends and Foes" tab in your profile area. Based on personal experience it does work - assuming the recipient of the request accepts!

Re: Who needs friends...?
To miss quote Brian Adams:
"Please forgive me, I know not what I do
Please forgive me, I was at an interview
Don't deny me, this pain I'm going through
Please forgive me, if I miss a few little things like I do
Please believe me, every word I say is true
Please forgive me, I really didn't mean to"
I hope you will forgive me for not seeing your friend request Alec,
my last few days have been a bit hectic with job related testing and interviews.

Re: Who needs friends...?
The reference to recipients, etc. was not aimed at you Justin, but I can see how it would appear. Many apologies.
I was trying to be helpful.

Re: Who needs friends...?
Alec,
Don't worry, I only took it as a stir, no offence taken.
I didn't mean to worry you, I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit (well that obviously went well, I'll go back under my rock now ). A least I didn't write my first thought's down. (Nothing negative, I would have just been an inteligent mule. Hint think other words, bigining with S & A. )
