Re: S - Activities
Hi David,
Having never used Vista I don't know what difference it makes. There are 2 ways round your problem, either start the goods service earlier by making sure that it has just left the branch when the activity starts or delete it.
Regards,
Stephen

Hi David,
I definitely had a very senior moment in my last post - forget my comments about OR as none of these activities have ever worked in OR. I must have been thinking about a different activity. Sorry if this has caused any confusion.

Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi Stephen
Thanks for the latest Open Rails activity Bin Diverted.
I am unable to get started in this because I am blocked by the AI consist S_Into Murco_Bins out, which is stuck at a red signal.
Is this the problem activity to which you refer in your post of 6th December? If so, I hope that you will be able to find a solution.
Also, my Common.Loads folder did not have the Blue Binliners in it, but I found these in file ID7931 Common Loads Full Version.
Thanks again
Mike

Re: S - Activities
Hi Mike,
The red light problem referred to the S - Bridgend_Maesteg activities not this S - Binliners where it also appears to be present. What is causing the problem I don't know - I have just tried running it and it works perfectly on my computer. I'm guessing that judging by your comments over at UKTS you are using W10; Gringo00 reported the same problem and wondered if it was to do with W10 whereas David is using Vista and he has the same red light problem. If it is due to the different Windows systems then I have no idea what to suggest other than starting the S_Into Murco_Bins out service a few seconds earlier - deleting it is no good as the Class 47's are required. If you don't want to do this then if you would send me a PM with your email address then I'll try sending you a revised apk.
Incidentally, have you tried the original version which is still available at UKTS?
According to the original readme the Blue Binliners.s should be included in the common.loads folder. It was the actual .wag files that were missing and these I included within the main activity folder along with the notes in the Activity Description.

Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Thanks Stephen
I'm on Windows 7.
I am afraid that the MSTS Activity Editor is way beyond my comprehension, so it would be great if you could send me a revised apk, provided it's not too much trouble.
I will PM you my email address.
Thanks
Mike

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
Following the freight train at the beginning of S - Bridgend_Maesteg not always working as planned I have moved this service into one of the loops as a loose consist and renamed the activity to S - Bridgend_Maesteg Steam. This whole set of activities has now been re-uploaded to UKTS and also to TSSHonline.
Mike (mikeanddi) also had a problem at the beginning of S - Binliners and I have sent him a revised version to try. If the whole activity works as it should then this new version will be uploaded in due course.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
My latest activity File ID: 35065 Name:S - Bathed Choirs Return has been uploaded to UKTS and awaits approval. I was going to upload it to TSSHonline as well but there appears to be a problem with my page. When Christmas is over I will be in touch with Justin and hopefully we can sort it out.
Again like my last 2 activities for the SDJR it is for Open Rails only but a lot simpler than S - Harbour Goods which caused a few problems.
In the meantime, Happy Christmas to you all,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
I hope that I have now sorted the problems with my TSSH online upload page. I'd tidied up all my Dropbox files and put them into their new relevant folders. This, of course, broke the link with TSSH online; hopefully all links have now been restored. My thanks to Alistair Cowell for bringing this to my attention.
At the same time I have uploaded my previous activities for the SDJR plus my latest S - Bathed Choirs Return which is the sequel to S - Choirs to Bath. As stated in my last post this new one is for Open Rails only and is quite straightforward.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi Stephen
I have just completed Bathed Choirs Return, arriving 1 minute late at Wells.
This was a pleasure from start (amazing AI at Bath), middle (changing weather), to finish (glorious sunset) and is a great demonstration of the capabilities of Open Rails, so many thanks for this.
My only problem was the braking, which meant that I missed the station stop at Midsomer Norton, and had a bit of trouble over-running at the first Glastonbury reversing point, but apart from this, everything ran smoothly.
I do hope that you will continue to develop activities for Open Rails, and that your activities may encourage some of the other excellent activity writers to give it a try.
Thanks again.
Mike

Re: S - Activities
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the compliments but we mustn't forget all the hard work put in by the Open Rails Team. All I try to do is make use of what they have provided now and in the future. I had problems with the brakes as well - it is due to them being set for MSTS so I tried to build in some leeway in the timetable. There will be more from me at some point but at the moment Danny's South East Steam is taking up most of my spare time. My childhood was spent living near Guildford, grandparents at Folkestone and us children often stayed there with a lot of time spent leaning over the harbour wall watching the all activity including the crane loading the cars. Hence this route has fond memories for me.
Best wishes for the New Year,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
Following comments on UKTS S - Cardross Track Repairs has now been re-uploaded, this time with a full briefing. As stated in the original description this activity will run in both MSTS and OR with very similar timings. The amount of ai seen and where is dependent on your timings but shouldn't affect how the activity runs to a major extent.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
My latest activity S - Millerhill_Thornton Yard-Diesel-OR has now been uploaded to both TSSH online and UKTS as File ID: 36241. This is a reworked version of S - Millerhill_Thornton Yard-Diesel to make use of some of the new functions available with Open Rails and add extra interest. This is an Open Rails only activity use it with MSTS and it WILL fail. Remember the Extende AI function must be ticked in the Options/Experimental box.
If you have only downloaded from TSSH online, could you please let me know so that I know the number of downloads.
As usual, any comments good or bad are welcome,
Enjoy
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi Stephen
Thank you for the re-working of S - Millerhill_Thornton Yard-Diesel for Open Rails.
I was enjoying the start of the activity immensely, but I have encountered a problem after leaving Millerhill sidings (on time) with the double headed train. The first signal after joining the main line, adjacent to the exit from the Layby siding, is at danger and has not cleared in 20 minutes, so I am stuck, unfortunately.
I downloaded the activity from UKTS, and I am running Open Rails version X3667, on Windows 10.
I would be interested to know if others have had this problem.
I hope there is a solution because this has been an excellent excellent activity so far, and I would very much like to complete it.
Thanks for your continued support for Open Rails.
Regards

Re: S - Activities
Hi Mike,
Sorry that you have got stuck at a red signal. This hasn't happened to me in all my testing and I will investigate at tomorrow, hopefully. In the meantime there are a couple of things that you could try - "tab" the signal to see if it will then let you past and you can carry on. The track monitor will indicate if there's anything in the way, possibly a Blocker that is causing the problem. Also try pressing the 8 key and use the Page Up/Down and arrow keys to see what is happening up ahead.
I'm using W7 and Open Rails version X3667. This shouldn't make any difference. The is no difference between the UKTS and the TSSHonline uploads.
Hoping that this is useful,
Stephen

Re: S - Activities
Hi Stephen
I cannot tab the signal, so I spadded it, switched to manual mode and back, and continued. I could not see anything ahead, either in the track viewer or from the free view.
I am now stuck just beyond another signal at Craiglockhart (I tabbed this because I could not stop in time). Ahead is a parcels train headed by D5305 which is held at the next signal, and a stopped DMU facing towards me on a single track from the direction of Haymarket shed.
I wonder if the switch to manual mode and back again has messed up the AI.
I will have another try later to see if stopping at Craiglockhart makes any difference.

Re: S - Activities
Hi All,
As promised in an earlier post somewhere a few months ago I have now started adding brief activity descriptions where needed and upload dates to my TSSHonline uploads. The rest will follow in due course. Hopefully, soon I will upload a few Open Rails versions of my activities both old and new. These updated versions will be only will only be available at TSSHonline initially, uploads to UKTS may follow later if demand is there.
At the moment I have reworked the three St. David's Day activities to take advantage of some of the functions available with Open Rails and to improve the ai traffic. These still need a bit more testing and to check that the stock used is still available. Following on from other people sometimes having problems with my activities if anyone would like to test these please let me know.
As this mainly for Open Rails Activities this post will be copied into my S - Open Rails Activities

Stephen
