“Crosby Valley Railway is a fictional heritage railway and is aimed to be of North Eastern origin and runs for about 11 miles from Peel Junction to Bellingham on Sea.

The line was original built to transport goods from the different stations to the main line at Peel and open in 1832, and on arrival at Bellingham started to transport the fish out of the then small fishing town. The town soon grow and turned into a major seaside resort and with this brought an increase in passenger numbers.

The line leaves Peel and takes a long sweeping left hand curve and passes under the 3 arc Saltergate Bridge and starts to climb passes Abbey wood and over Earls Bridge. The climb starts to get a bit steeper as the line pass Robinson Farm and arrives at the first station stop of Keilder. Here coal was loaded on to wagons that were bought down from the hillside by a narrow gauge railway which is still there and is now part of the route.

On departure the line continues to climb, but not as steeply as before, as it heads into Keilder forest and past Keilder Forest Halt. This stop was built by the society and is a request stop for any walkers to have a wonder thought the forest. This point also marks the summit of the line and it is now all downhill from here to Bellingham. Coasting down the line crosses the Ella Beck and the Yorfalls waterfalls before swinging right and exiting the forest before arriving at Crosby, a delightful little village on the outskirts of Keilder Forest, were the loggers use to load wagons with the timber from the forest. This is now the main passing point for all trains.

Leaving Crosby the line drifts right leaving the forest behind and heading towards Snappers Wood, a little nature reserve that is awash with bluebells and other wild flowers. On exiting Snappers Wood the line runs into Falstone, a small town on the outskirts of Bellingham and the home of the carriage and wagon workshops which is passed on the left of the line. As the line leaves Falstone it passes under Lanehead Bridge and across Cottage Crossing before passing the Bellingham campsite on the right. The line then swings left to pass the locomotive sheds and into Bellingham, where on the right the carriage sidings are and this is where the goods yard use to be.”
