Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Good Morning, Paul.
You need to 'tell' ConBuilder which program you want it to use to display the stock. From the 'Options' tab, click on 'Select 3D Viewer' then navigate to the .exe file of the program you wish to use to display the stock. Click 'Set'. Please note that you will only see a picture of the stock if its folder contains an image file.
Cheers,
Ged

Hi everybody.
There must be a knack to loading this ConBuilder, but it's certainly not working for me.
Even tried running as an administrator (which used to work) but not having It.
thanks

Hello Paul, Isn't TSRE the same sort of thing, I had no luck with Con Builder either...Roger

Hi all,
I agree with Roger; TSRE consist editor works for me it takes a while to load but when up and running I find it easy to use and it works. For my part I especially like the BROKEN consist editor section; top drawer.
Regards KenH

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Hello Roger and Ken, and apologies for the late reply. been playing with this for
a few days now. It's either something In my Computer, or more than likely ME!!!
But I am having no luck with ConBuillder or the TSRE you suggested.
With TSRE I can select a Diesel Engine with Passenger Coaches, name the
Consist both with execelent Pictures and then save It.
But when running MSTS The Consist Is nowhere to be Found?
Originally, with ConBuilder, I was quite happy with the results when It displayed
the Pictures. but now take pot luck with what I'm trying to load.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Paul,
... but EXACTLY what "grief" are you having?
You appear to have done everything right!
Can you create a consist with ConBuilder?
Is it that it doesn't display the stock image? If so, are you sure the stock folder contains a .bmp or .jpg file?
Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged, thanks again for the reply.
I can create a Consist, butt with only guess work..
All Consists I created In the Past, which I am trying to replicate displayed Pictures of the rolling Stock, but now nothing?
I changed the Registry entry a you suggested and message said changes were accepted.
Don't know what to do now.

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Hi Paul,
Apologies for repeating this, but you will only see images of the stock in ConBuilder if the stock folder contains a .jpg or .bmp file with the same name as the .eng/.wag file.
As consists are being created OK, the program is working correctly. It's just that, somewhere along the line, you either haven't set it up correctly to show images or the stock you're using doesn't contain an image file.
I can't think of anything more to suggest. If I've missed anything, hopefully another member will come to your rescue!!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Hi Ged, thanks again for your reply.
I can only say the Loco's and rolling stock I am trying to Re-create are from saved Consists that I have saved over the Years.
I assume, that if the files are still available for download from MSTS/Trainsim.com that they would still contain the relevant JPG/pictures.
Change of subject please-
Do you know anything about TSRE please, I gave It a try Recently and managed to create and save a Diesel and Passenger Consist but
when returning to MSTS It was nowhere to be Found?
Many thanks again.

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Hi Paul,
Not all stock contains image files, especially not the earlier ones!
Regarding TSRE, when you start it, you specify the 'root' folder (eg C:\1MSTS) which it uses to navigate to the TRAINS folder and, hence, the CONSISTS and TRAINSET sub-folders.
Starting from the initial ConsistEditor screen :
1. In the 'File' tab, left-click 'New'
2. A 'new' entry will be shown at the bottom of the left panel.
3. Towards the bottom of the screen, in 'File Name', enter the name you want to give it.
4. In 'Display Name' (just below 'File Name'), enter the name you want to display in the sim. This is NOT essential.
5. The bottom entry in the left panel will now show the 'Display Name' you entered (or the 'File Name' if you didn't enter a 'Display Name').
6. You now need to create your consist, so do 7. OR 8.
7. If you know which vehicle you want to add to the consist, double-left-click its name in the third panel from the left and its image will be shown in the bottom panel and the right panel.
8. If you want to see an image of the vehicle first, single-left-click its name and its image will be shown in the right panel. If it's the one you want, double-left-click the vehicle name in the third from left panel and it will be added to the consist in the bottom panel.
9. As you add each vehicle to the consist, its name will be shown in the second panel from the left.
10. When your consist is complete, go to the 'File' tab and left-click 'Save' and it will be saved in the CONSISTS folder of the selected installation.
If you wish to modify an existing consist, single-left-click its entry in the left panel - but I don't want to confuse you any more!!
I hope this helps; it may point to something you might have missed
Cheers,
Ged

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Not sure if this is of any help, but it might be worth reminding people that you can create the thumbnail (image) using Route Riter (version 7.6.26). It's not obviously straightforward but does work - albeit slowly!

Hi Alec,
Thanks, mate, but the TSRE ConsistEditor only uses the shape file to display the stock item.
If it's not too early, may I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and a Good New Year

Ged

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
Hi Ged
It's never too early to offer good wishes and kind regards.
The jpg images created within Route Riter are what I've used for ConBuilder. I have no experience of TSRE but just thought I'd post anyway.
I haven't done much in the way of train simulation other than occasional forays into the forum. I'm currently in the process of having my cataracts sorted. The right eye has been done and left eye is scheduled for the 27th of this month!
I too would like to offer my good wishes for you and yours, and trust that you are keeping in good health.
Regards, Alec

Re: ConBuilder Issue yet againplease
My apologies to all for going off-topic, but I just wanted to offer some encouragement to Alec about his cataracts, which he mentioned in passing in the previous posts. Alec I wish you all the best for your procedure on 27th.
I had my cataracts done a couple of years ago and the improvement was nothing short of miraculous. The yellow filter has disappeared, I have 20/20 vision, and I'm allowed to drive without spectacles! It takes a few weeks to return to normal, but I hope that you will soon be enjoying optimal vision. The brightness of my vision improved so much that I now have to wear sunnies outdoors
Regards
Tony
