Train search please
Hi everybody, looking for some search help please.
I am trying to locate the "Royal scotsman passenger set" and possibly the Steam Locomotive Or Diesel engine that went with It please.
Almost convinced I have It on CD/DVD somewhere, but have spent the Morning trawling through old CD/DVD's with no luck. (I have loads of MSTS Stock backed up on CD/DVD's from the old days Including Steam Engines, Diesel Engines and loads of Rolling stock
and Passenger Coaches and various freight stock).
This Is very old MSTS Stock and guessing due to the demise of UKTrainsim Is probably no longer available, but some help would be appreciated please.
Many thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul.
All the files which were available at the time UKTS closed are available from trainsim.com under the same file IDs.
I don't really know which files you're after, but for starters : File ID 16395 - Class 37 37401 in Royal Scotsman livery, File ID 22996 - Royal Scotsman Coaching stock and File ID 15531 - an earlier set of Mk2 coaches in Royal Scotsman livery. Other locos are available.
There are several "Royal Scotsman" activities - if you are running any, please say which.
Also, I have virtually all the MSTS/Open Rails files which were available from UKTS at its closure, as I didn't know that Eric at trainsim.com was going to host them!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Hi Ged, Many thanks for all your help.
Will have a look at these In the Morning.
Meanwhile would be grateful for a couple of activities to go with them please, although not sure know which Route they would go with.
Many thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
Available from trainsim.com are two Royal Scotsman activities for the Highland Mainline route (file IDs 13429 & 15313), two for the original Scottish Central route (NOT Scottish Central Plus), file IDs 67368 & 68283 and one for the Far North (Wick) route, file ID 9627. These activities are all dated 2004 - 2006 and the routes are VERY old, but you may have one or, even more, of them!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Hello Ged, Trust me to mess It up.
I have the diesel UKTS_16395_EWS_Royal_Scotsman_37401_The_Royal_Scotsman.exe ,
I have the Passenger Rolling stock and the Consist for the Train?
however. for whatever reason, Only the Diesel Loco Is being Displayed.
Trust me to make a mess of It again.
Thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
You have posted in an MSTS Forum - I think you may be running Open Rails because, if you'd installed files 16395 and 22996 and tried to run in MSTS you'd have had a number of errors!
Assuming you're running OR, the reason you only see the Class 37 loco is because you need to create your own consist - the consists supplied with the Royal Scotsman coaching stock use the class 37 from a different TRAINSET folder and use additional locos.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Well, what can I say, having an Issue with ConBuilder yet again.
"ERROR Conbuilder is not allowed to run on WinNTx Setup Aborted"
Never had WinNTx. Seem to be going round in circles again.
Thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
That's a very old error you've reported
Make sure the file you're attempting to run is set to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode and is set to run 'as administrator' - right-click the .exe file, select 'Properties' then 'Compatibility' and set as shown. Left-click 'Apply' then close the window.
I believe you've recently got a new computer - that is probably the reason you've had this problem today! You hadn't applied those settings to Conbuilder.exe on your new PC.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Hi Ged, thanks for the reply.
I used to get around this By cheating and Installing it as an administrator but unfortunately not on this occasion.
But will keep trying.
Also I have found my "Scottish Central Stage 1" CD. Was there a Stage 2 Continuation CD or similar please?
Many thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
It's not cheating! It's using all the available options to run some old software!!
I only ever bought the Scottish Central Plus CD but know that Scottish Central Stage 1, together with two updates, were available from UKTS and may be downloaded from trainsim.com.
In answer to your last message, I don't think there was ever a Scottish Central Express. I think you're confusing it with Scottish Capital Express from Making Tracks.
You didn't answer my previous query about whether you are running Open Rails. I know you say you've been running MSTS all day, but have you been running MSTS routes and stock through Open Rails?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Hi Ged, thanks again.
My apologies typo error, It Is "Scottish Capital Express" from Making Tracks.
And yes, I am using Open Rails.
The fact that both Routes have Issues, not sure which way to go now.
Thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
From that answer, can I assume that you do not have MSTS installed? If so, you could have trouble installing/running many older routes.
If you have the CDs, I recommend that you install it, even though you may never run it.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Good Morning Ged, thanks for your reply.
A little confused here, not unusual for me.
I thought if you had MSTS Installed In Open Rails with all it's Default Routes and default Rolling Stock that this was the correct procedure.? maybe wrong of course.
I do have the original MSTS 2 disk version installed as 1MSTS in drive C:
Also small change of subject:- ConBuilder Is now working!!!
Have a hospital appointment this Morning, so will get back to you later this afternoon.
Thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
You reported that when you tried to install Scottish Capital Express, you got a message that MSTS wasn't installed. This would seem to indicate that the correct Registry entry isn't present. This can occur if, when you set up your new PC, you only copied the files from your old PC and didn't re-install MSTS. This will be evident if you run MSTS and make some changes in the 'Options' screen which are not retained when you next restart MSTS.
If this is the case, please send me a PM with your email address. From your last message, I think you have MSTS in C:\1MSTS\Train Simulator - if that's not its EXACT address, please tell me what it is. I'll then send you a file which will add the appropriate Registry entry.
Hope everything goes OK at the hospital
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Train search please
Hello again Ged, Hospital appointment not so good.
Seems to be a bit of confusion here. I am using my Main Computer here which I have had for a couple of Years now. It's my Laptop that's new.
MSTS Is Installed Into to Drive C: AS 1MSTS and not as C:\1MSTS\ Train Simulator which has never been a problem until trying to Install
"Scottish Capital Express" the other day.
Sorry If I have been confusing everybody.
thanks
Paul.

Re: Train search please
Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear the hospital results weren't so good.
If your MSTS folder on drive C: is 1MSTS, then its root address, is most possibly, C:\1MSTS. Folder 1MSTS might contain a folder named Train Simulator or it may not, depending on how you set it up.
Without more information, I can't help any more - Sorry
Cheers,
Ged
