Steam in 2022
Hi All,
I just happened upon this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GujoYkaQf8
I know it's only part of a track construction project, but it's great to see and hear a steam locomotive earning a 'proper' crust!!
I'm not sure about the poor chap standing on the front wagon when the train is going in reverse - there must be an EU directive against that sort of thing!!
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Steam in 2022
You can see the bloke on the first wagon is using a walkie-talkie to communication with the train crew in the cab - so, safety shouldn't be compromised in this situation.
"Any railway that paints their locomotives such a magnificent shade of red, must be the most superior in the land" (apologies to the late David Jenkinson).

Could it be that they can get coal (it is Germany) but not oil?

Some other observations
1. The locomotive is very clean.
2. The driver and fireman are very clean.
3. They have infrastructure to support it (water at any rate)
I wonder if the loco is just a hand me down that has been given to the engineers because nothing else was available?
It is obviously well loved and maintained - good on them!
