Multiple Train Store - Revisited
Hi All,
Way back in March 2014, there was a discussion over at UKTS on this subject - viewtopic.php?f=238&t=137020&hilit=train+store+multiple
At that time, I produced a batch file for a fellow simmer called Dave (sorry, I don't have his full name, but suspect it may have been David Forrest). I don't know if he found that batch file useful!
With the experience I've gained from producing a working version of APKExtractor, I thought I'd have a look a creating a utility which would help this task.
The "normal" Train Store can be used with multiple MSTS installations, but it's a bit of a chore to have to make the changes manually, using the Tools tab. There is also the problem of keeping track of the various installations used and, unless the storage folders are changed for each one, before switching to a new installation, the previously used one must be unstored.
The program I've developed overcomes all these problems and, hopefully, doesn't introduce any I've not thought of!
Train Store is not changed in any way; the new program acts as a "front-end" for it. The user has to specify which MSTS installations are to be added, but after that's done, it's just a case of making a selection of which to run.
Phase I of my testing has been successfully completed and I'm about to embark on Phase II. When that is completed, I would like two or three volunteers to test it for me "in the field". I appreciate that it's sunset time for MSTS, but if you're interested, please let me know. I can let anybody have a preliminary copy of the operating instructions, without any obligation to become a tester. Having said that, there is absolutely no file, folder or Registry editing involved as the program does it all. However, it should be appreciated that as it is beta software, it is recommended that adequate backups are taken.
Hoping to hear from somebody ... please By the way, I've called the program TSFE.
The above is an almost exact copy of a post I've put on the UKTS MSTS1 General Discussion Forum.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Multiple Train Store - Revisited
Hi,
I have now successfully tested my program in Windows 7 Home Premium 32- & 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Win 10 Pro 64-bit. There is still Win 8.1 64-bit to go, which is one of tomorrow's tasks. The only OS which won't play ball is XP SP3 32-bit which reports that it's "not a valid Win32 application". This might be caused by the version of .Net Framework used in compiling the program not being installed in my XP partition, but I would like to know if many (or any!) users of MSTS are still using XP.
Cheers,
Ged

Re: Multiple Train Store - Revisited
Hi All,
Program TSFE is now available from this site's download library, and will be available from UKTS, as file ID 35107, as soon as it's approved
Unpack the zip file to a temporary folder and then check the Install_Readme.txt before continuing.
It has been tested using XP SP3, Vista, Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10. I understand one member of our Community has been using it successfully over the past few weeks. That's not to say it doesn't contain any bugs - just that they've not been found yet!! If you have any problems with this program, please let me know!
Cheers,
Ged

Great stuff, Ged. I'll give it a go once I've got the mini routes reinstalled.
